POV: Riley
"That was beautiful." The only the thing I could compare to Luke's voice was an angel. An actual angel. Just by the looks of him, I was expecting him to be great. But I wasn't expecting him to be that good.
"What's your song called?" He looked so peaceful with his guitar in hand.
"Wherever You Are. It was meant for someone who used to be important."
"Ohh..." I couldn't help but wonder if he had just gotten out of a long relationship. Was I his rebound or something?
"It was a long time ago, don't worry." He put his hand on mine while leaning in for another kiss. I didn't have time to second guess it, I was so caught up in his lips.
I wanted to keep going. I wouldn't mind getting lost in his taste for another four hours. He was so attractive, and every part of me wanted him. But it was almost five o'clock, and I knew I had to leave. I wanted to be back home before Kate, or the rest of my family had woken up.
"Luke, this night has been amazing. Really, this has gone better than I could have imagined."
His eyes bat at mine, the color was so memorizing. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I don't think there any other girls like you left on Tinder." Luke gave the cutest giggle, I was even more obsessed.
Everything he said to me made me feel special.
"That's not true, I'm sure there's someone better out there." I didn't mean to sound modest. That's just how I genuinely felt. I'm still working on my self-confidence, and its a painstaking process.
Besides, Tinder is full of all types of girls. I'm sure I wasn't the only one left out there for Luke to snatch up and grab.
"Are you kidding?" He moved his guitar behind him in order to get closer to me. Our legs touched once again, sending the slightest of chills up my body.
"Riley, you are a stunning girl. Just listening to you talk was everything to me. I loved hearing about your life and all that you like to do. Really, you're special."
There it was. That word, "special." I wanted to be considered special to someone, and if Luke is that person, then I'm truly lucky. He was unlike any boy I had ever met.
I couldn't help but blush from his statement. "You mean that?"
"Of course I do." His accent was music to my ears. This made me want to stay even longer. Just being with him made me feel worthy of something. Or in this case, worthy of someone.
Luke catches me glancing at the time on my phone screen.
"Please don't go babe, just stay a little longer." The way he says babe is just so sexy.
"I really want to, trust me I do. I just need to get home before my family notices I'm gone. I also sorta left my friend alone, she was staying at my house for the night." I want to tell Kate all about tonight and everything fascinating about Luke. But I don't want to make her feel even worse about her breakup with Josh.
"Are you sure? I wanna cuddle with you."
Oh my gosh. Seriously, what was this boy doing to me? I swear to God he just tried to flash me his "puppy dog eyes."
"I know, me too, badly. I just really have to go." I couldn't give in to the temptation again.
"Then let me walk you home."
"You really don't have to, it's fine. You should get some sleep, you said you were gonna go sight seeing again today." Since we got little to none rest, I think it's the most logical thing for him to do.
"You're worth the lack of sleep. Lets go, I'll walk you home." I mean, I wasn't going to deny more of his company.
Soon, Luke is holding my hand as we walk out the door.
June 8 / 4:55 AM
The familiar chillness in the outside air doesn't phase me. Being next to Luke made me feel warm and comfortable.
My hand lies in his the whole walk to my apartment, with light conversation here and there.
"It must be nice living in New York City. I don't know how I'm gonna be able to see it all in only two months."
That's right. Only two months. This whole night I forgot that he doesn't live here. How can I get invested in this boy if I know he's gonna leave?
"I forgot, only two months, huh." I couldn't help but look away from him. It was silly for me to feel sad. I mean, who knows if he's even gonna see me again or want a relationship of any kind after tonight.
"Two months for you to show me everything. Everywhere you like to go, and everything you like to do. You'll show me."
So he does wanna see me again?
"I'd be honored," I giggle. I would love to see him again. Even if it was only for two more months.
******
We finally make it to the front door of my apartment. I didn't want to say goodbye to him. This night was too perfect to let it end.
I lean up against the door with my hand still in his. He looks at me with those blue eyes and I can't help but feel tingles inside. He takes his finger and lifts up my chin for a kiss. He moves his lips slowly in between mine, sending a rush throughout my body. When he pulls away, I can't help but sigh. I wanted more of this.
"Thank you for tonight." Why thank me? Thank you.
"Thank you again for not being a catfish," we laugh in sync. I was seriously relieved.
"I'll be sure to message you later. I promise. Goodnight, Riley." The sweetness in his voice soothes me.
"You mean good morning," I say smirking back at him.
"Oh, that's right. Good morning." He gives me one last peck on the cheek.
