POV: Riley
After sending my text to Luke, I sit on my bed completely baffled at myself.
I can't believe that I convinced myself into meeting a Tinder match. Being the anxious and constant worrier that I am, I force myself to go through every worst case scenario that this night can possible go. Therefore, I make a mental list.
1st Worst Case Scenario: I'm being catfished and he's secretly a grown 50 year old man.
2nd Worst Case Scenario: I'm being catfished and he's secretly a girl.
3rd Worst Case Scenario: He takes me into an alley and does God knows what.
4th Worst Case Scenario: He's actually gay.
10 minutes into my current frantic state, I finally found an outfit that satisfied my needs. I felt sexy for once in my life. Sure, boys have called me hot and complimented my appearance plenty of times before, but for some unknown reason, when Luke complimented me I truly believed it.
As I'm rushing to pack the essentials into my purse such as breath mints, tampons, and the casual bottle of pepper spray, Kate's snoring fills my room. In order not to be a totally shitty friend, I figure I should leave her a note if she wakes up and I'm no where to be found. I text her phone saying that I'm out meeting Luke, and that I won't stay the whole night. I'm not the type of girl who sleeps over on the first date. Well, I don't even know if I could classify this "meet up" as a date.
As I'm slipping on my black vans, my phone goes off. It's another message from Luke.

Luke: heading down to the lobby now, i'll wait for you xx
I really had to get going now.
I take one last look at myself in the mirror to double check my appearance. My hair is somewhat frizzy, but I don't let it phase me. I know I can't afford another freak out.
I make sure that I am making the least amount of noise possible as I'm leaving my room. The last thing I want is either Kate, Ashlyn, or my mother waking up. Thankfully, I make it to the front door without any hiccups. The cold air that greets me causes me to pull up the zipper on my jacket.
Good thing I decided to wear pants instead of a skirt.
These next eight blocks felt like they took five years to walk. I was so nervous about our encounter that my mind kept racing. I reminded myself of the messages that he had sent to me, and it started to ease my thoughts. I just wanted this whole thing to go smoothly. The absolute last thing I wanted was to be used by this boy, or any boy for that matter. But Luke seemed kind, and with everything in me I wished for it to be true.
June 7 / 11:50 PM
The lights of the Casablanca Hotel flicker above the streets of the city. With my hands practically shaking in place, I grab the door handle of the entrance. The air conditioned lobby made me even more frigid, causing goosebumps to spread across my arms. But the cold air is ignored when I glance at the ceiling; it's exquisite chandelier and marble floors never ceases to amaze me.
In the split second that I almost forgot my reasoning for being here, I approach closer to the lobby's seating area.
The back of his head peaks over the chair; his blonde hair is perfectly outlined in this light.
