Tears dripped down Pearl's eyes. It couldn't be. Pink Diamond... destroyed. No. It couldn't, it was impossible-

White Diamond turned her head to Rose and Pearl. Her glowing eyes widened and she raised the sphere, ready to throw. "Run," whispered Rose. "Run!" Pearl didn't need to be told again. She turned as the ball of light flew towards them. The explosion knocked both of the gems off their feet and sent them flying to a stone wall. Pearl scrambled up and kept running, Rose on her tail. Pearl saw her master create a large pink shield from her gem, a shield that had a the same pattern as on the rose Pearl had seen on Earth. White Diamond came soaring from above, her gem now glowing. A beam of light shot from it and hit the shield. Peal held her breath.

The shield kept holding, and Rose had a determined expression on her face. Peal looked forward again and cried out as she tumbled down a dirt slope. She landed in a heap and struggled to get back up.

"Keep running!" Pearl did as Rose ordered and sprinted forward again. In front of her, many Gems were congregated, and their were ships there. Ships. Pearl had an idea. But it might just get them killed.

"Rose!," Pearl screamed as another beam of light shot at the shield. "Rose, we need to escape in one of the ships!" She didn't know if Rose had heard her, but she kept running anyways. The Gems in front of her turned their heads in curiosity and then shock as they saw White Diamond flying through the air above them.

"Stop them!," roared the Gem ruler. "STOP THEM!" A line of five Rubies appeared stood in front of Pearl.

"Out of the way!," Pearl shouted. "Out- of- the- WAY!" Pearl felt her gem glow, and suddenly, she knew what to do.

She counted the five Rubies, standing a perfect horizontal line in front of her, all in symmetrical fighting stances. Their legs were exposed. Easy targets. Pearl calculated all this in a split second before she pulled a sky-blue spear out of her gem. The Rubies looked shocked, but didn't have time to react as Pearl slashed the point of the spear at their knees. The spear sliced through each of their legs like they were nothing but butter. The Rubies had one moment of surprise before they were poofed.

Pearl jumped into the nearest ship, Rose right behind her. Rose's shield protected the entrance as White Diamond sent a barrage of glowing energy.

"Pearl," Rose said in a strained voice, "Pearl, close the bridge, now!" Pearl rushed in and tried to remember what that guide on Gem ships had said. She flicked a switch and the bridge started to close. Rose backed slowly in and then, once the bridge was closed, she sprinted into the center, her shield dissolving. Then, closing her eyes and with a groan, Rose spread her arms wide. Pearl saw the window in front of her encase in a clear pink bubble. Pearl strapped in and started flicking switches and pushing buttons, then got her hands on the controls and the ship started to rise.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The ship rocked as White Diamond shot blast after blast at the ship. Pearl steadied the ship and dodged the next shot, which crumbled a pillar. Pearl made the ship go higher and higher before shooting up into the sky. White Diamond followed in hot pursuit. They flew above Homeworld's atmosphere, then into the space above it. White Diamond had the sphere in front of her and was getting ready to fire it when Pearl whirled the ship around.

"This is for Pink Diamond!," Pearl roared, before taking aim at White Diamond's gem and sending a light missile blast at it. The blast connected and the sphere stopped glowing. White Diamond's body went limp and she fell, faster and faster, before she was just a hurtling fireball that fell onto the ground below.

Pearl spun the ship back around and shot through space at top speed. She aimed the tip of the small ship the huge blue planet in front of them: the Crystal System's Earth.

It had been five days since Pearl and Rose had landed on Earth. They were sitting on the grass on a hill, the sun setting and the sky a kind shade of violet. Pearl was lying on the grass, gazing at Homeworld's galaxy. From here, it just looked like a large scarlet dot.

"Pearl..." Rose stood up. Pearl got onto one knee.

"Yes?"

Rose looked somber, her eyes sad. "I'm going to stay and fight for this planet. You don't have to do this with me."

Pearl gave a shocked smile. "But I want to!"

"I know you do. Please, please understand if we lose, we'll be killed, and if we win... we can never go home." Pearl smiled and looked into Rose's beautiful black eyes and Pearl felt a sensation of pleasure and overwhelming passion in her heart.

"Why would I ever want to go home if you're here?" Rose smiled and held out her hand, and gave a small little laugh.

"My Pearl." Pearl grasped her pink hand and stood up.

The rebellion was just beginning.
