The Crystal System Earth Colony

Pearl and Rose gasped when Pink Diamond's physical form went limp. Pearl rushed to her former master's gem and took out a duster from her gem. "Okay," she said, fussing over the pink diamond, "This'll do-"

"Stand back." Rose stepped forward. "My Diamond," she said, her eyes filling with tears. One tear snaked its way down her face and fell onto the crack on the broken gem. Pink Diamond's gem started to glow, the burst with blinding light, and the crack had sealed itself. Pink Diamond groaned again and opened her eyes. She got up slowly, her loose dress flowing around her.

"I'm sorry," said Rose as Pearl hastily put the feather duster back away in her gem, "But it's all I could do. I don't know how long it'll hold, because someone of your power-"

"It'll hold long enough," said Pink Diamond in a weak voice. "I will cherish my remaining years. Do not worry, Rose, I'll be-"

BEEP! BEEP! The Diamond Communication Channel activated inside Pearl's gem. She took it out and raised it up. "You have a call, my Diamond," said Pearl rapidly as it started to glow yellow and rise out of her hands. The glowing, thick diamond expanded to look like a jagged mirror as Yellow Diamond's face appeared.

"Hello, sister," Yellow Diamond said curtly. "Are you with the Rose Quartz?" Pink Diamond tossed her head back and looked at her sister's ebony irises that were shaped like diamonds. Pearl dropped into a bow.

"Yes, I am. And it's just Rose Quartz, not the Rose Quartz."

"Whatever. We need to send a scout team to the new potential Colony. We would like it if 'Rose Quartz' was part of the scout team. We also need a Pearl, but I can just send my-"

"No," said Pink Diamond shortly. "I have a perfectly capable Pearl right here that would be more than willing to do the job."

"Alright then. The team leaves immediately. White and Blue Diamond will be sending representatives to, as will I. Meet at the regular Scouting Ship. I've made improvements." The channel closed and floated down to Pearl's waiting hands. She put the Communicator back in her gem and turned to Rose, her face paler than usual. Rose looked at Pearl and touched her cheek. Pearl immediately blushed blue.

"Don't be nervous, my Pearl. It's honestly not hard, or scary." Pearl bowed her head.

"If that is what you say, master."

"It's Rose, remember?" Pearl looked into Rose's kind black eyes.

"If it is your wish for me to address you like that, Rose."

"Well, what would you like to call me?" Pearl looked down.

Why is she making this so difficult?

"I have no opinion. Your word is my choice. I am your servant."

Rose looked at her sadly. "Sorry I'm making this hard for you. It's just odd that you have no sense of individuali-"

"Alright you two," said Pink Diamond. "You can chit-chat later. Right now you need to get to the ship, or my sister will have your gems shattered."

The ship was ice. It was smooth, and the inside had a cool feeling. The travel to Earth seemed to take long to Pearl, though that might've been because she was the lowest class of gem in the ship. Blue Diamond's representative was a Lapis Lazuli, a water manipulating gem that stayed mostly silent throughout the trip. She wore a simple flowing dress that went to her knees and drape-like cloth on her arms. Her blue hair was short, but thick and wavy.
