Rejected at First Sight

Chapter 12

It was about an hour before the coronation. Ash and I weren't allowed to see each other until we were walking down the golden carpet as King and Queen of the werewolves. I don't know about normal human coronations but, what I do know is that the werewolf ones are strict in their traditions. I had to wear a bright red dress that had lots of embroidery on it, from my waist down it had an upside down V that was a golden color in the middle. It wasn't poofy like most queen dresses are, it was very slender and fitting in all the right places. I had a crown on the represented me as the next queen in line and when I walked down the carpet my crown would be exchange into the Queen's crown. It would symbolize my acceptance of the role as queen. My mom came into the dressing room with the twins.  She had tears in her eyes and Shay and Xander looked at me in awe. "Wow, my baby girl is all grown up. She's a mom and a queen." She started to ball her eyes out. I went over and hugged her. "Momma it's ok. I will always be your little girl." She smiled. "Momma?" I looked down and Shay reached up for me to hold her. I picked her up and then Xander did the same thing. "Momma loves both of you so much." I squeezed them tightly until they both grunted. "Momma, when we growed up, who will take you and Daddy's place?" Xander asked me. I looked into his innocent face and I knew then I didn't have an answer. They were born at the same time. How would we chose who would take our place. That's like choosing who is your favorite child. "I don't know baby. We will have to wait for that answer. "Ok." Xander and Shay looked up at me and I could see the awe in both their eyes. Today they were also getting their titles and Prince Alexander and Princess Shannon. They were ecstatic to be in what they called fancy clothes.  

After everyone had settled in it was time to start. The fanfare had started and Uncle Kane walked down the carpet by himself. Then it was Drake and Lily, since Drake was the first born, and so on and so forth. Finally it was Ash's and my turn. We walked down separate staircases at first and then in the middle of the first set we joined and then walked down the second set. It was like a scene from every kind of movie with a prince and princess. The golden carpet was covered with some kind of white flower. When we got the the base floor we walked a little further and then turned to watch our kids come down the stairs as we had. Xander was on the left and Shay was on the right. They joined like we did and descended down the second set  of stairs and walked to us. 

We walked to rest of the way to Jason, he was the Elder that was going to preform the ceremony. Jason then looked at Uncle Kane and said," Kane Ryan Darkwood, you have been King of the Werewolves for a long time. Since your oldest Brother Harold has returned with his children you now have to step down and let them take their rightful place." Uncle Kane bowed as a sign that he understood. "Now repeat after me. I Kane Ryan Darkwood, give up my claim to be King of the Werewolves so that the rightful King is able to rule. I give this title up completely and will never try to get it back. I will be loyal to my new king and obey his every command." Uncle Kane repeated the words and then the crown was taken off his head and placed on a pedestal. Now it was Drake's turn. Jason looked at Drake and said," Repeat after me, I Drake Alexander Darkwood give up my claim as next in line for the throne. I give up my claim so the next heir will be able to take their own claim. I promise not to try and get it  back. I will be loyal to the next heir and protect him or her with my life." Drake then repeated the words. Lily and the rest of my cousins had the same oath as Drake did since they had the same title as he did.  

Now it was Ash's turn. Jason looked at Ash and smiled at him. He then said "Repeat after me, I Asher Lee Blackwell stake the claim as King of the Werewolves. I promise to protect my pack as well as any other pack that is need of assistance. I promise to be loyal to council and follow their rules. I promise to be fair and just. I promise to be there for my wife and to help her with anything she needs. I promise to make the best decisions for my fellow werewolves until my dying breath." Ash repeated these words with a lot of emotion. He then bowed to Jason and Jason then picked the crown off of Ash's head set it down and then placed the King's crown on his head. Ash then walked behind Jason and took the seat of the king. Once he was seated, it was my turn. I felt the knots in my stomach, I also began to feel the morning sickness coming but I knew now was not the time. I gave Jason a look and he understood and calmed me down. Jason then proceed to say,"Repeat this after me, I Jocelyn Marie Blackwell stake my claim as Queen of the Werewolves. I promise to be loyal to my husband as well as my people. I promise to be the mother to all who need my help. I promise to be loving and supportive of everything my husband does. I promise to be wise and calm when the time comes for panic. I promise to be there for my pack and any other pack who may need my help. I promise to be loyal to the council and obey their rules." I repeated these words and I was relieved when I was done. I then walked behind Jason and took my place beside Ash. 

It was now the twins' turn and Jason had agreed to let them speak their oaths at the same time, since they were so young. "Repeat after me little ones, I Alexander Michael Blackwell and Shannon Kay Blackwell stake our claim as heirs to the throne. We promise to protect our pack and to learn as much from our parents so that we know what to expect when the time comes for us to rule. We promise not to become angry at whoever gets the throne first, we will back each other up in hard times and be happy for each other. We promise to always be loyal to the council and obey their rules." They repeated the words as best as they could. They messed up a little but they are only 4, so it wasn't a big deal. Finally when they were done Shay sat on my right hand side as Xander sat on Ash's right hand side. After Jason said a prayer to the Moon Goddess for our safety he then said "Long live the King. Long live the Queen." He walked away. After he was out of sight a long pause set in. When Ash and I felt the time was right, all four of us stood up and the people bowed, repeating the prayer Jason had said and then Long live the King. Long live the Queen. When everyone finally stopped bowing, the coronation was officially over.
