Garroth could hear the yelling from O'khasis, despite him being well far away. By now he was sure that everyone knew of his absence, but he couldn't decide if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Garroth sat near a stream, watching his horse drink silently from the cold water. It was a bitter cold outside, causing the boy to wrap his black cloak around himself. He could easily see his breath in the air, which only seemed to make him cooler.
Garroth snapped his head to the side when he heard the rustle of leaves. Fearing that O'khasis had found him already, he got up and quickly ran to his house, about to get on but he paused when he saw a sinister red gleam from beyond the bushes. His breathing got shaky as he reached for his sword that was connected to the saddle. "Who's there!?" He called out, instantly regretting that choice.
Garroth screamed and fell back as something jumped out at him, or more like, someone. There was a man standing over him with messy brown hair and blue eyes that had a red gleam to them. He gave off a mischievous smirk, showing his pointed teeth. He had red and black armor on that seemed to glow. Red feathered wings sprouted from his back as he stepped closer to the blonde. The man's smirk seem to grow as a sword appeared in his hand. "What do you want with me!?" Garroth yelled, scooted back on the cold ground. "Wow, I thought that 'pretty boy' here might have been smarter than that, but apparently I was wrong.." He said. "Listen, I don't want any trouble... I'm just trying to find my way-"
"Away from O'khasis?" The man finished Garroth's sentence for him. "H-how did you know..?" He asked. "Heh, I know things, blondie.." The man growled, his wings folding neatly on his back. "W-wait.. T-those eyes.. That armor.. I... Y-you're a shadow knight..." Garroth muttered, putting a hand over his mouth. "Finally.." The man groaned. "I honestly thought you were an idiot for a moment." He said. "Get away from me!" Garroth shrieked, remembering how his kind were the ones who killed his mother and kidnapped his brothers that day.
The brunette placed the tip of the sword underneath Garroth's chin and made him look at him. Garroth scooted back and felt behind him for anything of use for a weapon. The man kneeled in front of Garroth and grabbed his face, making him look straight into his eyes. "It's funny how you're so scared.." He said. "Is this some kind of game!?" Garroth yelled. "You could say..." He smirked and traced down Garroth's neck and chest with the sword. He went back up to Garroth's neck and pressed the sword against it, drawing a bit of blood. All of Garroth's courage seemed to drain out of him with the shadow knight if front of me.
"You're going to kill me.. Aren't you..?" Garroth asked. "Ye-" The man paused for a moment, looking at the blonde with a bit of sincerity and interest in his eye. "I-I can't.." He muttered, standing up. "You got lucky this time, Blondie... But don't expect to get out of this next time." He growled, disappearing in a cloud of red.
Garroth couldn't move a muscle after that, but when he looked behind him, the horse was gone.
