I admire Mia from the back. She looked stunning in the dress I had picked for her. It was white in colour and was puffy on the top and went all the way down to her ankles. Her shoulders were the only part that was exposed. She was tall so this dress looked perfect on her. She was adjusting her hair in the mirror in my room and I sneak a picture of her in the mirror. It was a decent shot and she looked amazing.
"You look, beautiful baby," I tell her as I move to I stand behind her.
"Are you sure? My hair doesn't seem to stay in place" She frowns at her hair.
"Then let it be free. You look stunning either way" I tell her reaching into my pocket and feeling the box I had placed in it, "By the way" I say drawing her attention to me.
"I got you a gift," I tell her slowly and Mia looks at me furiously.
"You need to stop! You got me this dress and the shoes and everything in my cupboard!" She chastises me. For some odd reason, she hated when I got her things and it sort of amused me to see her get annoyed.
"What can I say? I love seeing you in good clothes" I shrug and pull out the box and hand it to her.
I had seen it in a shop while I went running and I just knew she had to have it. I watch as she opens it and her mouth drops open in a gasp. It wasn't anything extravagant, it was just a teardrop necklace with a diamond in it. The diamond was real. It was simple but stunning, like Mia.
"I thought of you when I saw it," I tell her and take it from the box and place it around her neck, "This way, if you ever think of leaving me, you can pawn the diamond and have enough to last you a few months or years," I tell her with a heavy heart.
Nothing was set in stone yet. Mia had agreed to stay with me even past the two months. Yet, every time I looked at her with the love I felt for her, she looked like she wanted to run far away from me. The look in her eyes was the only thing stopping me from telling her how I felt. I tried to hint it to her or show it to her but each time I got close, she got that scared, worried look in her eyes. I always pulled back the minute I saw it. I didn't want her to run, I wanted her to stay with me. I know how absurd this sounded. I am Asher Billiard, I force people to give me what I wanted but if I should change for anyone it would be for this goddamn beautiful and incredible woman.
Mia turns around and wraps her arm around my neck, "I don't ever want to leave you" She whispers so softly, I had to strain my ears to hear it "Thank you" She says louder and I get the feeling she didn't want me to hear the first part.
I felt my heart warm at her words and I lean down to press my lips to her. She pulls away from me and giggles, "You've got lipstick on your lips" She says reaching up and rubbing it off for me.
"I don't care, I want to kiss you," I say ducking around her hands to reach her lips.
Mia smiles against my lips and lets me kiss her. I don't push her for more cause we're already running late. I pull away and she reaches up again and wipes my lips. I lick her hand and she glares at me but smiles. God her smile, could light up my darkest days.
"We should go and I should brief you on what's about to happen," I tell her when I manage to control my thoughts again.
"Okay. I don't need my phone right?" She asks me.
"Nah, you'll be with me or Hunter throughout the night." I say taking her hand and leading her down, "So the press will be there and they're gonna be asking who you are and all that bullshit. They can get pretty rude. Just ignore them all. Do not speak to them at all and stay with me or Hunter the whole night." I tell her.
