Plan in Action: Chapter 27

--------------------------------

"Ficken. Was passiert, wenn wir etrwischt werden? Ich bin mir auch ziemlich zu sterben."

I looked over my shoulder to see one girl mumbling rapidly to herself. "Um..." She was pacing back in forth, shaking her head, and fidgeting with her hands. If I didn't know better, I would've thought that she was having a panic attack. And maybe she was.

"Oh, that's Gretchen." Aria stood, mumbling beside me.

"What's she going on about?" I asked.

" If I heard correctly, she said something about being too pretty to die." I looked at her with a look of confusion. "I know a bit of German." She shrugged sheepishly. "She's probably just freaking out over the escape. She's been here longer than any of us, you'd expect her to be a little more gracious."

"Ok...then." I turned back to my task of packing my things. "Do you think, will this plan really work?" I asked nervously. This will probably be the only chance we would have to escape. It was now or never. Now wasn't the time for anxiety attacks either.

"Of course it will." She said confidently. For the past weeks that I've known Aria, I've noticed that she's a very optimistic person. Either she was nagging Mason to smile more or she was comforting the girls that were bruised and beaten, she was just an amazing person to be around. Hopefully we stick together after this. Actually, I wouldn't mind-

"Ladies!" A voice rang loud among us. It was one of the older women in the group, Mrs. Gibson. We all huddled around, making sure to keep our voices down. It was already 11:45, and we didn't have much time left. I was more worried if James was waiting for me or he had gotten lost. "Now listen. We don't have very much time. The boss and the rest of the gang will be heading to their rooms pretty soon, but we'll still have to wait at least 10 minutes. Just to make sure that all of them are actually asleep." Suddenly, mutters started to fill the group. I glanced a confused glance at Aria. "Yes, the boss doesn't go to sleep as the rest of the men, we know that. That's why we had Rose, here, put something in his drink." She patted a petite red head on the back. The girls cheered for her bravery.

Let's hope he never wakes up. I don't know what possibly could happen if whatever they placed in his drink were to ware off.

"It's now 11:50. I need everyone to have their bags and everything ready." She then hopped off her stool, gently grabbing a crying baby from a mothers arms. The mother sent her a gracious thank you, as she sagged against the wall in exhaustion.

I wasn't really sure how she was going to get out of here, she was already tired, and the crying of her baby, could wake the men up, but I wasn't going to leave her here, and neither were the rest of the girls. Living in this type of atmosphere was hard enough, but having to raise a child in it was crazy. Her baby was a girl, and just the thought of her daughter might having to grow up and turning out exactly like the girls, brought dread to the pit of my stomach.

I felt Aria stiffen beside me.

Looking over at her, her hands clenched tightly onto mine, her face paled. And I knew the exact reason why.

"You didn't tell him. Did you?" I asked sadly.

"No." She choked out. I some what expected her to tell Mason or explain something to him, but in the beginning, she refused, wanting to keep everything a secret from the men, even Mason. "He can't know."

"He'll miss you. You know? I've seen the way he looks at you. The boy has a soft spot for you. He likes you, may not have said it, but it's pretty obvious."
