chapter one

I was sitting by the large window besides me, just waiting for my dinner to be served. I gazed out the dark night sky as stars shimmered in the night just wondering what to do with my life. I looked around, examining the small restaurant. It was full, but small. I just recently moved into town and hopefully I'll survive by myself.

All of a sudden I heard a loud crash and I turned my head to the noise. People started screaming and I stood up. There was a guy going against a group which seemed like an uneven fight. Not very fair. My heart raced, because I was scared, but I didn't know what to do. I looked around and grabbed my bag.

I tried to squirm my way through the crowd of screaming people. I pushed people out of my way and god was it hard. I felt people pushing me from behind and before I knew it, I fell in the middle of the brawl. Not quite, I actually fell on someone.

Ah, shit.

I closed my eyes from embarrassment but quickly stood up. I was about to apologize, but the guy, jabbed my shoulder. "Who the hell are you?" He asked haughtily. My mouth agape at his bluntness.

"Who are you to just jab me in the shoulder like that?" I asked looking him straight in the eye. "That was really disrespectful."

"Can you just get out of my face?" He asked unmannerly. I opened my mouth to argue back but before I could, he pushed me to the side and blocked the punch that was going towards him.

The guy he was going against slightly laughed and looked at me. I backed up and broke into a run as I turned around. I felt my hair getting pulled back and I winced in pain before turning around, grabbing his shoulders and kneeing him.

Self defense class was so worth it. I slightly smiled at the guy rolling on the floor as I looked up to see another guy coming at me.

"Hey!" I shouted at him quickly ducking at his punch. "What the hell was that for?"

"Sorry, but you're involved now." He slightly chuckled, and grabbed my arm turning me around and then wrapping an arm around my neck.

I was trying to remove his arm away from my neck, struggling and choking. I kicked his knee from behind and then kicked his stomach sending him flying to a table.

"You can't just try to punch a girl like that!" I shouted trying to catch my breath. I moved my bangs out of my face and looked around. The arrogant guy looked at me with wide eyes and I slightly smiled.

"Should I fight you too?" I asked and he rolled his eyes before walking towards me.

"I didn't know you were so tough," He said grabbing his bag on the floor. He threw it over his shoulder and continued walking.

"Hey!" I shouted after him. He halted and turned around to face me.

"What,"

"Are you okay?" I asked and he snorted before turning away. Such an arrogant man. I followed him out the door and halted to a stop when I heard a police car siren--actually there were more than just one police car siren.

"HEY! Do you want to get arrested?" Mr. Arrogant exclaimed. "Come on, dumbass! RUN!"

He grabbed my wrist and pulled me away as we both broke into a run. I ran as fast as I could as my heart pounded through my chest. What the hell did I get myself into.
