A/N- I'm changing Harper, Maddie and Ricky's ages to 7. I've been writing their parts a little more mature then how a six year old would talk/act.
Pats P.O.V.
I feel bad that we can't come to Harper's competition. Jen put her hair in a bun on top of her head. When Harper went to get her costume on, I said to Jen,
"I feel really bad that we can't watch her dance. Who's going to record her for us?"
"Bob is going to record her and bring her back here. When we get back, they should already be here. I have a feeling Harper isn't going to be to happy with us." Jen sighed. Harper came down the stairs in her costume (picture). Jen grabbed her hand and took her to the bathroom to do her makeup. I went to get her stuff from her room when I saw a diary laying on her bed. I opened it to the latest entry. It said:March 27, 2016
Tomorrow is my first competition and mommy and daddy can't come. I wish they could cancel their trip, but they can't. My solo is really pretty and I wanted them to see it. Not at home, but on stage in front of them and everyone else. Well I better get going to bed. I have a big day tomorrow. :'(
-HarperBy the end, I was feeling extremely guilty. I really wish we could cancel, but we already let the host know we would come. My friend is getting married and he doesn't know about Harper. Plus, he only had so many tables. There wouldn't be enough for her.
"What are you doing, daddy?" I turned around to see Harper standing there with her arms crossed.
"Uh, I, uh, I was just cleaning up your room." I say nervously. She gave me a questioning look but nodded.
"You look really pretty, Harper." I tell her.
"Thank you." She says and starts crying. "I'm sorry, daddy."
"For what?" I ask even though I already knew what.
"For, for, for being mad at you and mommy." She wiped her eyes. By then Jen was in here too.
"Oh, it completely fine. It's ok to be upset when we can't come to something special. But we should probably get going though." I say.~Time skip before Harper's dance~ Harper's P.O.V.
I took a deep breath and walked on stage. I curled up in a ball to start the dance. I want to look for mom and dad, but I can't. They're not here. When the first words blasted through the speakers, I danced my heart out. When it was time to do my front ariel to end it, I was really nervous. But I managed to land it and smile. I walked off stage to be greeted by Maddie in a big hug.
"That was amazing, Harper. Wish me luck."Maddie said and walked on stage. During her dance, I was really nervous for her. But in the end she did amazing. When she came off stage, we hugged and went back to our team's dressing room. When we walked in, applause greeted us. Everyone from ages 10-35 were clapping. Grown ups and kids.
"You guys did really well." Mrs. Jensen said and we had a group hug. We got ready for the duet with Ricky after that.
"We need act 385, "Hit the Road Jack"" Said one of the stage people after a lot of practicing.
"Good luck!" People said to us as we walked out.
"Remember after the dance to keep your heads held high." Ricky said. Us girls nodded. We walked on stage and got in our poses. We were holding Ricky's hands. I was really nervous because I have to kiss Ricky on the cheek. We started dancing when the music played. We danced for about 30 seconds then I had to kiss Ricky. After that we danced for a while and then the fun part. Me and Maddie team up and get rid of Ricky. At the end, me and Maddie run off, hand in hand. Ricky stands alone. He shrugs and runs off. The audience claps. We meet up backstage and have a group hug. Ricky looks at me and blushes. He has a red mark on his cheek from my lipstick.Again, when we walk into the dressing room, it is filled with applause. Me, Ricky and Maddie hang out until awards. When it is time to go, the three of us grab our jackets and leave with Mrs. Jensen. We find a spot to sit, we talk and dance sillily with the music.
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls. Are we ready to get awards?" The guy talking into a microphone said. Yeses filled the room.
"Good, good. First will do our ages 6-8 solo division. 3rd place is... Abby Brewer from Plié dance academy! Come on up Abby." He says. The audience claps. I was really nervous because I was going against Maddie for first. We made a deal not to be jealous of the other person if they got first.
"2nd place is... Maddie Crawford from National Dance Academy! Nice job Maddie." Maddie went up for her award. When everyone clapped, I think I was the loudest. Ricky looked at me like I had 17 heads. I burst out laughing. But that quickly vanished, I would either get 1st or not place at all.
"Finally, 1st place is....drum roll please..." Everyone starts pounding on the floor. "Harper Brown from National Dance Academy! Congratulations! Come on up and get your trophy." I can't believe what just came out of his mouth. I went up and got a trophy that says '1st Place Winner 2016'. A crown was also put on my head.
"So Harper, tell me again, where do you dance at?" The guy asked me.
"National Dance Academy!!!" I say into the microphone. The audience cheers. The three of us go to our seats on the floor. Maddie hugs me.
"Nice job." She says. She sounds sincere.
"Thanks. You too." I say and hug her back.
"Now it's time for trios. 3rd place is...Jenny, Chloe and Becca from Dancers Galore Dance Academy . Nice gob girls. 2nd place is...Dan, Melanie and John from Plié Dance Academy. Finally, 1st place is...drum roll please (everyone pounds on the floor)...Maddie, Ricky and Harper from National Dance Academy!" We go up, smiling.
"So Ricky. Tell me man, in the dance one of the girls kissed you. What do you have to say about that?" The guy says.
"Well it was kinda weird." Ricky said. The audience laughs. I smile. We all go off stage after we get our trophies. We all find our parents to go home. While everyone runs up to hug there mom and dad, I have to find my uncle.
"Harper." Uncle Bob yells. I run up to him with my two trophies, crown, backpack on my back and my jacket on. I hug him and he picks me up.
"Great job, Peanut Butter." He kisses my cheek. Peanut Butter is my nickname from him. We head out to the car and start for home.
"So, in your trio, you had to kiss little Ricky. How did you feel about that?" He asks. I blush.
"It was weird. But don't show daddy that part."I say sternly.
"I won't, I promise." He says and parks his car in the street.
"Can you carry me, my feet died." I say. He picks me up and laughs. When we get inside, I go upstairs and put on a pink pajama shirt that says, Wake me up when it's Friday. And black pajama pants with the sleeping emoji on it. I take out my bun and wipe off the makeup that covered my face."Uncle Bob? Can we watch a movie?" I ask and do puppy dog eyes, pout and make sure my lip quivers.
"You didn't have to do the cute act, I was going to let you anyway." He says. I run to the living room and pick out a movie. I choose The Lion King. It is my favorite movie of all time. Me and Uncle Bob cuddle on the couch. He sings along to the song, The Circle of Life.(Video)I giggle. When the real movie starts, Uncle Bob gets us popcorn. We laugh, tear up, eat popcorn and pet Cloud. In he middle of the movie, mom and dad come home. I jumped off the couch and ran to them. I hugged them both. But then I remembered that they missed the most important thing to me. I stepped back and folded my arms.
"Oh, bubby. We are so sorry." Mom said and tried to hug me. I pulled away from her grip. I ran back to Uncle Bob and he picked me up.Bobs P.O.V.
Harper ran into my arms and picked her up. She immediately started to cry.
"Bob-" Jen says, trying to take Harper from me.
"Jen, can't you see that she is upset right now? You missed her win 1st place twice. You missed her getting her trophies. You missed her dance. She missed you. When people go onstage, they look for their parents in the crowd. She didn't have the chance to do that. You could have easily told the host you can't come. But you didn't. You cared more about a wedding. It's a freaking wedding. I can't believe you, Jen. I thought you were better then this. I-" I was cut off by Harper.
"I thought you loved me." Harper said and whispered to me, "Can I go to your house to sleep?" I nodded. We went to pack. We grabbed her stuff and went to the door.
"Bye, Jen." I said and left.Jens P.O.V.
I thought about what Bob said. Was it true? Did I care more about a wedding? I guess so. Me and Pat went upstairs to Harper's room. On a shelf that used to be empty, sits two first place, trophies and a crown. It made me feel even worse. I turned to Pat and broke down crying.
"We missed her win first place. Twice, Pat, twice! One for a trio and one for a solo. Her first ones too." I said. Above the shelf was a tac board with a few pictures on it. One was her with her crown and her trophy for her solo, another one was her, Maddie and some other boy with their trophies, for, I assume, her trio. The last one was the three of us. It was on her birthday. Bob must have printed them today. I feel really guilty right now. Now Harper was at Bobs house for the night. Right now I want to tell her that I do love her.
"What have we done, Pat? What have we done?"Wow. This chapter was dramatic. Poor Harper...again. Comment and vote! Love you!!😍❤️
