Harper's P.O.V.
It's October 31st!! Halloween is my favorite holiday. I am being a ninja turtle. It has a fluffy green skirt and leggings. I have the turtle chest for a shirt and I'm wearing my black Converse. Across my face will be an orange mask (picture). Mom is going to curl my hair.
"Harper! Get your costume in so we can be ready for Maddie and Ricky." Mom said. I ran to my room and put on my costume and then met mom in the bathroom for my hair. When she was done, we set up the bowl of candy.

"Madison! Ja-" I stopped myself. Jake went back to his parents. They were in bad shape because both of their kids were gone. Madison came in dressed as a zombie football player. She was definitely a tomboy.
"What?" She asked. I gave her a hug.
"I love you! That's all." I said. She laughed. There was a knock at the door. Madison opened it and slammed it again.
"What was that?" I said, looking out the window. She pulled me back.
"Mom." She said. I give her a scared look.

"Haha! Gotcha!" She laughs, and I glare.

There was another knock. Madison checked outside before opening to door the let Ricky inside.

"I like your costume." I said. Ricky was dressed in an army costume. He had green, brown and black face paint of his face.
"Thanks." Ricky said. The rest of the wait was a blur. Maddie came and we went outside when it got somewhat dark.

I watched Maddie adjust her halo. When she was done, we linked arms and began to walk down the sidewalk with Ricky next to us and our parents close behind. We knocked on doors, got candy and moved on. We did this repeatedly around the block. We walked back home and sorted, traded and ate our candy.

"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Ricky. Happy birthday to you." We all chorused. His mom went to his car and brought a cake back to our porch. We ate happily, having a lot of fun. We played tag with our parents. Then, we played some music and had a free-style dance off. Ricky's clothes he could dance in. But Maddie came inside with me and put on a yellow leo and some black shorts. I put on the same thing except a blue leo.

After that, we did tricks. Madison came out and we all did round off back tucks.
"BOO!!!!" Dad ran out of the house. We all screamed and ran around the yard, him chasing after us. In the end, we were sitting on the driveway up front, talking and laughing. The rest of the adults soon came by us. From here though, it all went down hill.
"I'm going to see if Jane wants to come over. Be right back." Dad said. Mom followed him.

From here till the end, listen to Unconditionally by Katy Perry.

No ones P.O.V.
Across the street, in Janes house, nothing was going right. For her anyway. Hovering over her, was her dad. He locked his wife and baby in the attic. In his hands, there was a gun and a wooden stick. He pushed the stick against her neck. Fireworks were exploding in front of her eyes. Through them, she saw her dad raise the gun to her head. He pulled the trigger. The sound of bones cracking where heard. Her dad dropped the gun, put the stick by Janes dead body, ripped off the gloves and ran. His gloves in his pants, where no one could find them. He just killed his daughter.

A bang filled the air. It sounded like a gun shot.
Jen and I pushed open the door that was closed a couple of seconds ago. Nothing looked wrong up here so we ran to the basement. And there, laying on the floor, was Janes lifeless body. I picked up the gun laying next to her. Jen put her hand over the bullet hole in her head. I covered the other one. The bullet went right through her head. Blood coated our hands. With my free hand, I picked up a wooden stick, inspecting it. Sirens filled the air.

Jen and I jumped up. We had to get to Harper! Outside, police crawled the driveway like bugs. 2 police officers stopped us.
"We need to see our daughter! She's on the driveway. Over there!" Jen yelled. A police officer brought her over to us. She had tears in her eyes.
"Did you kill her?" She asked. Looking at our blood stained hands. I shook my head.
"There are his fingerprints on the gun." One officer said, coming out of the house.

"You did! You killed her!" Harper yelled.
"No. We. Didn't!" Jen yelled through clenched teeth. She raised her hand and slapped Harper. I looked at Jen. Police officers handcuffed us and shoved us in a cop car. I can't believe what just happened.

They killed Jane, slapped me and got arrested. I can't believe them. A police officer kneeled in front of me.
"Do you have any other family?"
"I my sister is over there. I have and older brother and a mom and dad. But the three of them hurt me." He looked at me and nodded.
"How old is your sister?"
"17." I say. He nods.
"I hate to do this but, you'll have to go to an orphanage until your sister turns 18." He said. He grabs my hand.
"No!" I yell. "Can't my friends mom adopt me?" He shook his head.
"Because you have related family members alive, you can't live with anyone else until they come of age." He takes me to his car.

On our way to the orphanage, I silently cry and stare out the window at what I once called my home.

The end! There will be a sequel. It's called, Turning tables. I will post the first chapter soon. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this book. Bye -Ella
