Authors POV:
After crying for hours by the front door, Rosaline went upstairs and fell asleep, not even bothering to cover herself with a blanket.
Rosaline quickly rose up from the bed when the sunlight from the window hit her face. She began to panic, but then realized she didn't have to go to work today. She took a shower and changed into her normal clothing.
She made her way downstairs and found aunt Alexandra by the kitchen table talking to someone on the phone.
"...I can't believe I won most influential designer of the year for the fourth time..." aunt Alexandra didn't seem surprised at all, "Oh don't worry about the party, I already called my secretary and she's getting everything we will need for the party ready, its going to be perfect. I mean after all this is something to celebrate."
Rosaline sighed, knowing that a party meant she would be doing all the decorating and preparations. Aunt Alexandra turned to look at Rosaline, not aware that she had been standing there. She said goodbye to the person on the other side of the line and then hung up.
"Don't you know its rude to stand there and listen to people's conversations?" Alexandra asked angrily. It was still astonishing for Rosaline to see Alexandra's mood change so rapidly, just a second ago she was this smiling aunt full of joy and life and now she was just plain mean.
“Doesn't matter. Now I want you to listen carefully. Tomorrow at 9 I will be having another party to celebrate... Oh I'm sure you already know the rest-” aunt Alexandra began, but was then interrupted by Rosaline.
“But I can't get things done by that time! I have to work at the coffee shop and I won't be getting home until 10:30!” Rosaline protested.
“I didn't say you were going to get things set up, did I?” Rosaline looked at her aunt in confusion, “Besides I already called Calvin an hour ago and let him know that you wouldn't be attending work tomorrow... and don't worry about loosing your job, he agreed and said it was time for you to take a break, or something like that, whatever-”
“Then if I'm not going to get things ready why do I need to miss work for?” Rosaline was getting even more confused.
“If you would just let me finish for goodness sake Rosaline!” Alexandra took a deep breath to calm herself down and then spoke again, “Many designers, important designers like myself, will be coming, along with paparazzi ...its going to be crazy. So tomorrow you wont be seen as part of the help, oh no, tomorrow you will be seen as my … niece ...and you will have to wear a dress and look presentable. I can't have them looking at you, the niece of a famous designer dressed in something like that.”
The way Alexandra looked at Rosaline, when she finished speaking, made her feel worthless. She felt as if everyone would feel embarrassed to be seen with her.
The day went on, aunt Alexandra was busy calling inn for arrangements and decoration. Rosaline just cleaned the house and then went to the living room to watch TV for a while, until the doorbell rang.
Rosaline walked up to the door and when she opened it, much to her surprise Zayn was standing there.
“Hey …? What are you doing here?” Rosaline asked.
“Well I heard you had a day off today so I was hoping we could start the search today.” Zayn smiled and then put both hands in his pockets.
“Search?” Rosaline was confused as to what Zayn was talking about.
“Yea the search for my mystery girl, remember?” Zayn asked while pulling out the necklace with the locket from his pocket.
Rosaline felt a shiver go down her spine when she saw the necklace. She then remembered she had offered to help him search for the girl he was looking for. Even if that girl was her.
