“Miles,” tawag sakin ni Ma’am Rianne, “let’s go. I’ll bring you to the CEO’s conference room.”

Kinabahan ako bigla. “Nako, wag kang kabahan, okay lang yan.” Sabi ng isa sa mga kasama ko.

“Oo nga, mabait si boss.” Sumbat pa ng isa.

“Alright, let’s go, the CEO won’t hurt you honey.” Natatawang sabi ni Ma’am Rianne. “And the rest of you, conference room 3.” Utos niya at nagsipag-ayos na ang mga ito habang naglalakad kami papuntang elevator.

When the elevator opened, 5 women are inside. 1 of them is Zia, we both waved at each other. Yung 3 mga mukhang masungit, yung 1 naman parang si Ma’am Rianne, parang siya yung head ng department nila dahil sa posture niya. Malaki yung elevator, pang 10 tao, so kasya pa kami ni Ma’am Rianne.

“Good to see you again Rianne.” Bati nung babae sakaniya.

She gave a slight nod. “Same here Tanya.” Sagot ni Ma’am.

17th floor is where were heading. Pagtigil ng elevator lumabas na kami. There are some people here na mukhang nagihintay for the meeting. Newbies like us are with the employees like Ma’am Rianne, department heads.

“Nervous?” tanong ni Zia pero di ako tinitignan.

“Yes. You?” I asked.

She chuckled, “Somehow.” Sagot niya sakin.

“Alright, this way please.” Sabi nung secretary ni Lolo Roman.

Kilala naman ako nito eh, she gave a slight smile on me before I entered the conference room. Ang laki ng room na ‘to, kasya yung halos 50 na tao. This must be the conference room of the CEO, parang kay Lolo Miguel, he has his own conference room sa company niya. (a/n : Gawa-gawa ko lang ito. Hahaha.)

Zia and I seated sa pinakadulo ng table, kumbaga malayo kami sa CEO. Kung yung CEO sa kabilang dulo, kami naman dun sa kabilang dulo. Opposite sides. The head departments are standing on the side.

“Department heads,” he said with full of power, “my secretary will announce something with you and your staffs in the conference room 3.” Then after that, he waved a hand at umalis na ang mga ito kasama ang secretary ni Lolo Roman.

Lolo Roman cleared his throat, “Welcome to VA enterprise, ladies and gentlemen,” he smiled, “I am the CEO of this company. And I think I should know your name and something about each one of you first.” Then halos lahat ng nasa room ay tumawa ng mahina. Lolo Roman seems so harmless and so friendly unlike my Lolo Miguel who seems like he’ll fire you anytime and whenever you commit mistakes or even just a mistake. “Let’s start from my left.” He said, and he gave me a warm smile, I smiled back.

“I’m Timothy Garcia. 26 years old. I am from the IT department. Graduated from *** College.” Blah blah blah. Sabi nila. Mukha naman magagaling kasi I’m sure hindi tatanggap si lolo Roman ng hindi magaling.

Yung ibang nagsalita they came from a well-known university and colleges, hindi man kilala yung iba meron naman silang maipag-mamalaki na they graduated with flying colors.

Then it’s the turn of one of the girls na kasabay naming kanina nila Zia. “The name is Cyril Joanne Evangelista, Sir. From the Advertising Department, I graduated in St. Benilde. I used to be an employee on Laurel’s Hotel and Resort.” She said. I wondered kung samin or sa kapatid ni daddy, kasi usually pinag-hatian nila yung branches ng resort ni Lolo. Bawat isa sa mga anak niya meron.
