Their voice made me jump. I looked at Brendan immediately, thinking he was trying to break the silence when I noticed he had fallen asleep. He looked cute when he wasn't trying to unknowingly kill me.

"Chad!" It was the same voice except this time I realized who it was.

I jumped again and looked straight ahead.

The person that was looking back at me was none other than my blonde haired, green eyed best friend.

"Jack!"

You know the scene from Big Hero 6 when Hiro tries to teach Baymax how to fist bump? Well that's our hand shake.

"So what were you thinking so hard about just then, Chad?" He looked at Brendan. "And... Who's... He...?" It was barely even for a second but I swear I saw pure hatred in Jack's eyes.

"Oh him? Yeah... My parents adopted him yesterday."

"I didn't even think anyone could be put into orphanages this old or even adopt them."

I stared at Brendan. Then I remembered the event that had happened not even 10 minutes ago and looked away. I could feel my face turning red.

"What's with you?" Jack was staring at me, his head was cocked to the side in curiosity.

"What do you mean? Nothing's with me! I have nothing! I'm doing nothing! Everything is A-OK!" I'm pretty sure I just made him even more suspicious...

He raised an eyebrow. "Uh-huh... Ok. Oi! You should sit here with me." He pointed next to him and waited for some sort of movement from me.

I glance at Brendan who was still sleeping next to me. I looked at Jack, sighed, and got up. If I don't sit next to him, he won't stop bothering me about it.

I sat next to him and he grinned at me. I stuck out my tongue.

"Happy?"

"Yup!" He put his arm around me and ruffled my hair.

"No! Stop!" I tried to swat his arm away.

He laughed at me but stopped.

I frowned at him. "You messed up my hair..."

He pinched my cheeks. "Aw... Come on Chaddie, smile for your JackJack."

"I wooll neber shmile for you (I will never smile for you!)" I whacked his hands away and rubbed my poor, sore cheeks. "And you're not my 'JackJack'. An-and stop calling my 'Chaddie'!"

"You're cute." Jack winked while saying it. He always does that. He likes to tease me since I used to like him. Usually if no one was around, he would bite my ear after to tease me more. He's cruel in ways.

"Oh shut up..." I say this as plainly as possible but I always get really red after.

We talked for the rest of the ride to school. When we got there, I had accidentally forgotten about Brendan...

I didn't even realize he was gone until I had already exited the bus and gone into the school, that's when Jack asked me, "um, Chad? Where's that one guy you were with?"

My eyes grew wide. "Shit!" I began to run back to the bus but there were too many people to try to get pass. I got trampled and the crowd took me with them. "Jack! Help! Brendan! Are you there? Brendan!" I cried out to them just in case they could hear me. Suddenly, a hand grabbed my arm and dragged me against the crowd.

Jack rolled his eyes. "Come on little mouse."

We made it to the entrance. I continuously screamed for Brendan but there was never an answer.

Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder and jumped. When I turned around, sure enough, it was Brendan.

"Where did you go?" He was mad. "The bus driver woke me up and I was all alone! Where did you go?"

I got kind of scared. "Um... I... Um... I kind of... Forgot about you..." I tried to look him in the eyes but his tired glare was so threatening I looked at his chin instead, which was actually easier for me since he was so much taller. "I'm sorry..." Wow, I've said that phrase a lot in just one morning. Wait, did I ever apologize for kissing him? Should I apologize? Maybe he forgot. Hopefully he forgot. Should I tell Jack about it? It's not that big a deal right?

The first bell of the day rang suddenly, snapping me out of thought.

"Time to start heading to class!" I heard a teacher yell.

Me and Jack, Jack and I, whatever. We started heading to our first class of the day, which we had together. To some miracle we got every other class together.

"Um..." Brendan was standing, looking at me stupidly. "I don't know where I'm going."

"Oh. Yeah. Forgot about that. Um... Maybe we go to the office?" I pointed back to the front of the school where the office was.

"I'm gonna get going. See you later." Jack went on his way. "I'll tell the teacher where you are!" And he was gone.

We walked to the office.
