I stabbed my pencil in the air. "ADVENTURE!!!" Our teacher had let us leave class so I was excited.
Brendan laughed at me. I looked at him and my face became red from embarrassment. I immediately put my arm down and stood like a normal person. He was still laughing at me.
Jack looked from me to Brendan and back again. "Don't laugh at him." I thought Jack was actually defending me until he walked up to me and ruffled my hair yet again. "He's just a little more messed up it the head than us. This is considered normal on the planet he came from."
"How dare you insult me! I am of a superior life-form than you small humans!" I put my hands on my hips and puffed out my chest.
Brendan laughed even more. "Who are you calling 'small'? You're so small it's adorable. I could fit you in my pocket!"
"I'm not that short!" It's times like this that I would kill to be able to stretch my body to twice my height. I could scare them so badly and then they wouldn't make fun of my height anymore.
All I could think about was what I would do if I had the power to stretch when I was suddenly being lifted off the ground.
"Wha-?" For a second I thought my thoughts had actually become reality and I was stretching. But when I looked to see what had happened it turned out that Brendan had put me on his shoulders... I don't even know how he was able to do that without me noticing, let alone how I stayed up.
"You're so slow!" Brendan said from below me.
"Put me down! I'm going to fall!" I drummed the top of his head when I began to wobble. I didn't want to fall backwards and bring Brendan down with me so I immediately stopped and frantically held onto his head, wrapping my arms around his face. And attempting to hide in his hair. "If I can't see them they can't see me," I thought. I know, I know, I'm just an oversized toddler.
"Stop that! I can't see! You're going to make us fall!" He tried to shake my arms off but couldn't.
I suddenly felt hands touching my hips and looked behind me. I had almost forgotten the current situation; and somehow completely forgotten Jack's existence. He let go of my hips and held out his arms.
"Com'on Chaddie, come to your JackJack," he grinned and gently pulled on one of my arms.
Scared but stupidly trusting, I let go of Brendan and fell into Jack's arms. Will you believe me when I say he actually caught me? Well, that's not what happened. It's not a complete lie, but as soon as I let go and turned to Jack there was nothing but regret. A loud thud followed as me and Jack fell flat on the floor.
"You're... Heavier... Than I thought you would be..." Jack groaned as I fell right on top of him.
We lied on the floor, me on top of him unable to move because he had his arms wrapped around me. Flashbacks of almost suffocating to death from Brendan's hug of hell last night came back to me in that moment. Almost as if he read my mind, Jack suddenly let go of me and let his arms fall on either side.
I scrambled to my feet. "Jack! Are you okay!?" I paced back and forth while hitting my palm against my forehead. "Idiot! Idiot! Idiot!" I thought over and over.
"Yeah..." Jack groaned as he got to his feet. "I'm fine, just hit my head a little."
After that, we finally got back on track of the reason we were in the hallways in the first place and began showing Brendan where his classes were and finding the ones we didn't know.
"You sure you're okay?" I asked Jack for maybe the fifth time.
"Chad, how many times do I have to say 'I'm okay' before you believe me?"
"A hundred," I smirked.
