miyoung's conversation with the waiter was quickly torn apart as her mother rushed over. taeyong heard from afar, her mother scolding the waiter to get back to work. she then focused her attention on her daughter, telling her to spend more time with doyoung.

miyoung agreed, as that was all she could do. taeyong watched as she found doyoung sitting awkwardly in the corner. she went over to converse but the tension was so obvious, that taeyong could feel it from here.

taeyong decided to go back to his usual routine of drinks and small talk with whoever approached him.

that was until miyoung approached him. "taeyong-ah?" her soft voice rang. he turned around, a little tipsy from the champagne, but it wasn't as strong as his usual drinks.

"did you need something miyoung?" he asked gently.

she shook her head before stepping closer to him, "i just noticed that you've been drinking a lot... is everything okay?"

taeyong smirked at her innocence. "i'm fine," he said harshly, "you should be talking to doyoung." taeyong pointed to the boy standing awkwardly beside his parents at the center of the room.

"i've talked to him enough, i want to talk to you." she said while pulling up a seat next to him at the bar.

"why do you always do this miyoung-ah?" in the spur of the moment, and with the alcohol coursing through his veins, his hand traveled up to caress her face. miyoung's cheeks turned a deep shade of crimson as the man's finger traces along her jawline.

"d-do what?" miyoung stuttered as she felt the temperature slowly rising in her cheeks. the man before her smirked. his movements stopped, allowing her some time to regain her composure.

"why is it that you always make me feel this way?" taeyong asked while taking another sip from the elegant wine glass in his hand.

"feel like what taeyong-ah?"

"you're so smart but how can you not catch on--after all of these years?" before miyoung could question the man's intentions once again, he interrupted her with something that she wasn't expecting, "i'm in love with you park miyoung, i have been since we first met." he took another sip as he studied her expressionless face.

"taeyong, i don't know what to say..." her gaze was still glued to the floor. she started playing with her fingers, a nervous habit that taeyong picked up on over the years of knowing the beautiful girl.

"you don't have to say anything." taeyong got up from his stool and stretched his limbs, miyoung's eyes followed his movements, "i know that you don't feel the same way about me." taeyong reached into his pockets and pulled out a few dollars to give to the bartender. "it was okay for the past five years, but not now."

before taeyong could turn around and walk away from her, miyoung's voice pulled him back, "why?"

with his back still facing the girl, he let out an annoyed sigh, "it's because i know that you're in love with someone else. it kills me to see that you cannot fulfill your wish of a love based marriage but it kills me even more that i am not the man in which you love."

"h-how did you know?" taeyong could tell from her voice that miyoung was on the verge of tears. he kept his composure, knowing that if he even spared a glance in her direction, he would break down before her as well.

"you don't think five years of being in love with you hasn't taught me anything?"

miyoung watched as the man walked briskly towards his father, whisper a few things in his ear before he disappeared out the door.
