when taeyong arrived at miyoung's mansion, he was glad that her parents were not there to question. he turned around to look at sicheng and nodded his head before departing to her room.
he knocked quietly on the door, no answer came from within. taeyong waited a few more minutes before deciding to open the door slowly. he peaked through and saw miyoung laying on the bed, staring at nothing. taeyong let himself in and sat down beside the girl before looking at her disheveled self.
"a-are you okay?" taeyong asked timidly. the girl didn't turn to look at him but kept facing forward, her eyes glaring at the stillness in her room. a twisted smirk made its way onto her beautiful face.
"does it look like i'm okay?" her voice was hoarse, as if she hadn't used it in days and this was her first time opening her mouth. taeyong looked around the room and found a glass of water by her bedside table, he picked it up and put it to her lips. surprisingly, she drank it without complaint.
"what's the matter miyoung-ah" taeyong asked while putting back the now empty glass of water. "did something happen with doyoung?"
"i broke off the engagement with him..." she spoke timidly. a sigh of relief left her as her shoulders slumped forward.
a feeling of relief coursed through his body. he felt happy for some reason, but he knew he shouldn't be basking in the girl's sadness. taeyong's hand found her cold ones, he intertwined his fingers through hers. somehow, they fit perfectly together, or so he thought.
miyoung pulled her hand away from his grasp. he tried to pull her back but she turned her face the other way. he sighed, "is that the reason why you're so sad?"
she shook her head as a few tears slipped down her face. without even thinking properly, taeyong's large hands caressed her head as the pads of his thumbs wiped away the salty tears staining her pink cheeks.
miyoung didn't make an effort to pull away, instead she pushed herself into his hands and let him hold her. taeyong didn't want this moment to end. an intimate moment like this with miyoung was something that he always wanted ever since he met her.
"t-then what's wrong?" he asked her, his voice barely above a whisper. taeyong's hands fell as she finally pushed them away. she took in a deep breath before talking.
"d-dong sicheng." a little sob left from her lips before she shook her head from the thoughts of him, "--that bastard."
"what did he do?!" taeyong felt his blood starting to boil at the mere mention of the boy's name.
"h-he has a girlfriend!" miyoung's fists curled her silky blankets, "--that bastard, he doesn't even love me back! after everything, he hasn't even thought of me!"
taeyong felt a sense of déjà vu wash over him. he looked at the girl whose tears had stopped falling, instead a rage of anger was washing over her.
miyoung turned her face so she was looking at taeyong but he quickly looked in the other direction. "i-i understand now taeyong-ah..." she said while reaching for his hands, "i know what you have been feeling all this time!"
taeyong didn't look at the girl but at their hands intertwined together. for some reason it felt all wrong, but all right at the same time. "let us heal together eh?" miyoung said quietly. "forget about your fiancee, let us just be together like you have always wanted--please?"
