a/n that picture is so lovely there are tears in my eyes
brendon was sitting beside tyler on the couch, rubbing his back. tyler's head was in his hands. neither of them had said anything more since tyler had been so upset. brendon gave tyler a pat. "hey, i gotta go. you've got a couple minutes left on your break but i really gotta get back to work, okay? will you be alright?"
tyler muttered a half-hearted sure, and brendon gave him another pat before standing to go. he was halfway out the door when he turned back to say "be careful, yeah?"
tyler looked back at the foreheaded giant before him. he managed a smile, his eyes still a bit red. "yeah."
"good, be careful. i'll see you later."
brendon left and started to make his way to the back room to get the broom. it was almost time to close up, nearly 10. but he had something to take care of. so he headed upstairs and took a left and then a right and then went down the long hall to find himself at gerard's humble cubicle-room, not quite an office (he wasn't quite important enough for all that) and walked in. he would have shut the door but there was none to close.
"hey, gee."
gerard looked up, reading glasses askew, and smiled a little. it was a tired expression. "hey, brendon. what's up?"
"well." he pulled a chair up to the man and sat down. leaning forward, he said, "listen, gee. i have something i need to talk about."
"yeah?" he pulled his glasses off and gave brendon his full attention.
"it's about tyler."
gerard straightened up, immediately anxious. "what happened? is he okay?"
brendon blinked calmly. "more or less. however, gerard, he was terribly concerned as to why on earth frank iero knew all about a little crush he had."
"i don-"
"and if that's not enough, why on earth frank iero wanted to see him in his office about it."
"bren-"
"and if that's not enough, why the hell frank iero wanted to set him up? gerard i know it was you, who the hell else, and i just." he laughed humorlessly. "what the hell, man. what the hell." he leaned back, and throwing his hands into the air with exasperation, shouted "WHO DOES THAT?"
gerard sighed, and rubbed his forehead with a hand. "look, brendon-"
"no, you know what?" he stood up abrubtly. "i don't wan't to hear it. i don't want to know why you've been sleeping with frank iero. i don't care if you're in love or involved with him or tyler or anyone, okay? i don't care about what you do. what i do care about is tyler, because frankly, he doesn't have a lot of people who do right now. i just want him to be happy and frank iero scares the shit outta him, so don't-"
"brendon i never asked frank to do that, i never wanted him to, i was just talking and he listens to me and-"
"see now, i don't care. i just want to know that this won't happen again."
"i don't know if-"
"i don't care. say it won't happen."
gerard mumbled "it won't happen again."
"i'm sorry, i don't think i heard that right. what was that?"
"it won't happen again, now get the hell outta my office."
brendon smirked and left.
gerard picked his glasses up to resume work, only to throw them back down again. he rubbed his forehead. "jesus, how is he not running this place yet."
