For the remaining period of my English class, I waited for Jackson to reply to my text.
I didn't even focus on doing any work but it was one of my strong points, which was alright. The teacher blabbed on and on; continuously going on about how his cat ate a bird on his head, while he was sleeping.
It was, you could say, a great fucking English story.
I was fuming, dying to know the real truth. I knew that I shouldn't have lashed out at my best friend like that when I hardly knew what really happened, but I couldn't help myself. I craved to know things beyond the white lies; beyond the cover-ups and little hiccups. Plus, I was mad because she didn't tell me in the first place. Was it that unimportant not to tell anyone?
From Jackson Young: are you breaking up with me???? come on, you can't break up with this charmer;) xo
To Jackson Young: sorry to break your heart but whatever, meet me beside the girl's toilets.
Minutes later, I received another reply.
From Jackson Young: kinky x
To Jackson Young: you're gross
After I heard bell ring loudly, I made my way to the meeting spot. I tried to look for Lily too, but she was nowhere to be seen.
Maybe she's hooking up with her new boyfriend, I thought to myself.
"Sup Pigtail, what was so important that I had to meet you here?" Jackson smirked, as I rolled my eyes.
"You dated Lily, didn't you? I've done a lot of thinking and it all makes sense. That was why you didn't bother me for like 2 months, wasn't it?" I suddenly blabbed out, as I felt his gaze shift. His eyes looked lost, sad and deep down I felt bad for him.
Fuck Ava, what the hell are you doing? It's none of your business.
I shouldn't have asked him such a thing but really, I was curious. Beyond curious, to say the least. I was just a nosy little shit.
"What the hell, you asked me to come here so you could question my love life?" He snapped, raising his voice slightly.
"Yes, so did you?"
"No."
I stared at him, "Really?"
"Yes," He replied but then finally looked up at me, before adding, "I did date her, yes."
"Holy fucking shit," I let out, as a chuckle escaped my lips. "And she didn't even fucking tell me." I whispered.
He stared at me. "She didn't?"
"No."

The rest of the day went even more downhill. Not only did Lily avoid me to the point where she skipped school completely, but Jackson also ignored me for the remaining hours of class.
It felt strange not to have him annoy me, to say the least.
But then on my walk back home, I bumped into Ryan Brown. Ever since we met up at his house to do the project, neither of us have spoken.
Well, he attempted to but I completely and utterly ignored him.
"Ava, please let me explain," He shouted as I continued to walk away from him, "Please, I need to tell you the truth!"
I turned around, dumbfounded. "What truth?"
He sighed in relief as he heard me speak, guilt clearly shown on his flushed face. He looked tired, sad. Which was surprising, considering he never failed to look good but at that point, he looked like he hasn't slept for days.
Was Ryan Brown, hurt?
"I'll tell you but not here," He started. "I don't think you'd want anyone else to hear."
