Kate's POV

I drove to school, unable to stop crying. I think that's all I did these days. Cry, cry, and cry! I wasn't strong enough to take Derek's words and just be ok. I thought he cared about me and I thought he was my friend if nothing else. Jesus was I wrong. I had no idea who I was going to make it through the day. I'm glad he wasn't coming to school because he was in one of my classes as well as my T.A. I needed to talk to the guidance counselor and change his schedule. I'd just tell her it wasn't working out with us and he needed to T.A. for someone else. I realized I'd driven to school not paying attention. I was sitting in my car in the parking lot.

RING, RING, RING.

I jumped and dug for my phone out of my bag.

RING, RING, RING.

"Hello?"

"Hey Kate, its Jessie."

"Jesus, you scared me. Hey, what's up Jessie?"

"I just wanted to let you know that Overnighted the divorce papers to you today."
