**Three Years Later**
Derek and I have been married three years. It's been a fantastic, perfect, romantic and safe three years. The year after Derek and I married, Michael died in jail. He ran his mouth to someone and the slit his throat while he slept. Apparently I was still the beneficiary to his life insurance, because I got a call and a check in the mail telling me what had happened. I was shocked to say the least but releaed more than anything. Beth ended up losing the baby before she even came to Colorado. I guess that's what set her off originally. She and Michael got into a fight, he hurt her and she lost the baby. She thought that if she came here and "removed me," that she and Michael would get back together. She stayed in a mental hospital for a while after the incident at school and moved back to Chicago with my mother. Beth married a doctor and has two kids now. I haven't talked to Beth at all and I've only talked to my mother a handful of times in the last five years. We just have a relationship that works best away from each other.
