Derek's POV
**Two Years Later**
I was laying in bed at 3:15am, thinking about all the things Kate and I have been through in the last two and a half years. We periodically talked about getting married but after I'd asked her in the hospital that one day, I didn't dare talk about it unless she brought the subject up.
Kate divorced Michael a few months after all of that mess and it was pushed through because of all that he'd done to her. Their house sold and she received a nice chunk of change from it but she still continued to work. Kate was working at the elementary now, as a second grade teacher and she loved it. She came home everyday with a picture or five from her students. She said she was truly happy for the first time in her life and I knew that now was my time to bring up marriage again. I'd been patient and given her time to work out her issues and now I was ready to make this woman my wife. Two years ago when I'd booked that Jamaican trip, so many times that week I'd wanted to ask her but I just couldn't. Now felt right and I had it all planned.
