When the morning light greets me, I have no idea how to get up, or what to do once I do, I wish I could go to Ruth and tell her what happened, but I worry if she would call my mother. Ruth said I didn't have to go to work on the weekends until school started, so I would have time to get all of my supplies, but I need a distraction.
What if Roman came and tried to hurt me again?
I get up and go to the bathroom to wash my face, in hopes it will clear my head. My mother's at work today, I want to see her, so she can comfort me. As I finish breakfast, I think to myself of how much I would love to see Simon, I then remember the deal I had made with my mother prior of moving to Hemlock Grove. I look into the garage and see the car is still there. I'm guessing she got a ride to work from the man she was dancing with last night, I hope he's good to her. I then decide to call Simon.
"How is my beautiful Eden?!" Simon yells into the phone as soon as he picks up.
"Lonely, I want to see you." I whine.
"Well that's not a problem, or is it?" He says.
"Pardon?"
"Your mother called me last night and told me you didn't seem like yourself, so she asked me to pick you up and take you back home for the day. So...I'm on my way now."
"I love you both so much!" I squeal into the line.
"I know," he cockily states, I'm too happy to give him a sarcastic remark. "I'm about an hour or so away, so pack up all your stuff because girl, guess where we're going!"
"Where are we going?" I happily say.
"I'm not going to tell you that, it's a surprise." I groan loudly in response.
"Now I'll let you drive, be careful."
"I will. See you soon." He says, I can faintly hear his crooked smile.
As soon as he hangs up, I call my mother telling her how much I love her, she tells me to have a good time, and to make sure Simon doesn't keep me for the week. Although I don't see how she could trust me with such a responsibility.
I grab the backpack me and Simon once bought together, he has the same one as I do, we call it our Adventure Pack. I pack everything, spare clothes, a toothbrush, everything. Knowing Simon, he'll somehow convince his mother to have me stay the night, which doesn't involve bloodshed, or tears, which would be surprising if it were someone else's mother of a teenage boy. However, our mother's have been best friends since high school, Grace, Simon's mother, trust's us dearly, perhaps more than she should, but since she's known me well since I was practically a fetus. So I guess then you get the bonus pack.
When the doorbell rings, I leap to my feet and skip every other step down the stairs, I swing the door open and leap into Simon's already opened arms. He laughs into my ear, I have missed the sound of his laugh, he lets me down after a minute or so. He then looks at me as if I've changed so much. "New clothes?"
I laugh, "Is that the only thing you noticed?"
"Your Adventure Pack!" He pulls out his hiding from behind him.
"And this is why we are best friends," I say going straight to his chest again, I can smell the cologne I once stole for him when we snuck into a Frat Party. Not exactly our scene, but I decided if we were going to fit the part, we may as well have smelled it, in which case I don't really understand my logic then. But it was the kind of cologne that would've cost more than it was worth and I remember Simon saying, "Let's at least take something from these white privileged bitches!" And then proceeded to take his seventh jello shot.
