The following week went by and both Grace and Connie adjusted to the new routine; true to her promise, Grace had genuinely tried to get used to having to go to the department regularly. Slowly, Connie noticed the tension between them was building again and before she knew where she was, she was in the middle of another argument with her daughter in the middle of her office.

"You promised mom" Grace shouted.

"Grace, i cant just drop everything everytime you want something; not everything is about you" Connie snapped back.

"This weekend was supposed to be our weekend; you've been working loads again and i miss you" Grace admitted, tears in her eyes as she held her broken arm.

"Sweetheart" Connie sighed as she hd her close "what you need to understand is i am still the boss of the department; if an urgent meeting is required then i have to attend. It doesnt mean that i dont want to spend time with you though; i have made a lot of sacrifices and am i'm sorry, but i have to attend the meeting"

"No you dont; Grace, can you give me and your mom a minute? Max is waiting outside to treat you in the shop" Zoee suggested.

After Connie had kissed her forehead, Grace left the office leaving the two women standing in front of each other.

"How much did you hear?" Connie asked.

"Enough to know that it's time i stood up and help out more; prep me on everything i need to know for this meeting"

"You dont have to; Grace is just tired and sore..."

"I do; it's only been a week and you're already arguing. Let me do this...for Grace"

Connie sighed and nodded; by the time Grace had returned to the office, Zoe had all the information she needed and Connie was packing up her belongings into her bag.

"Ready to go home baby?" She asked.

"Mom...i'm sorry"

"You dont need to be, i do; let's go home and and we'll order take out and talk"

Grace nodded as she grabbed her bag as Connie wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
