Chapter 10
“Oh honey, I cant just leave you all here. That would be so rude.” Mrs. Johnson protests.
I walked over to her and took her frail hands in mine. “Mrs. Johnson I know you feel uncomfortable leaving all this in our hands but I promise when you walk into this cafeteria tomorrow you won't even notice it. Have faith in us, and relax a little! None of us are leaving until the job is done.” I gave an encouraging smile.
“My angels. Thank you pumpkins.” She smiled and went to go get her purse and started making her way out.
“Bye Mrs. Johnson! Make sue you rest!” Jose said.
“Here, i'll walk you out. It's late and Halloween is tomorrow, just to be safe.” James said leaving with her.”
“I'll tag along too!” Lily said, a little too quickly.
“Aw, thank you.” My heart swelled at how happy Mrs. Johnson looked at their simple gesture.
Once they left, me and Mark decided to take a five minute break and wait until the boys get here to start again. I checked the time and saw it was five thirty. All of a sudden we heard the door slam. I jumped a little, my heart thumping.
“What was that?” Vida asked curiously.
“Probably just the wind.” James said uneasily.
“Or James and Lola are back.” Mark said. We all waited and heard nothing else. A few minutes later we heard the doors slowly creak, as if they were opening.
“Maybe its the boys. Let me go check.” I said, trying to calm myself.
“Mark, go with her.” Jose gestured.
“I can go myself.” I said stubbornly. Mark rolled his eyes and just tagged along anyway.
As we walked through the halls everything was dead silent and one of the doors were left open, blowing the fake leaves that were scattered.
“Anyone there?” Mark called out. We heard a whimper come from around the corner and I picked up my pace to see what it was.
All of a sudden there was a bloody scream mask in front of my face, someone gripping my shoulders and I let out a high pitched scream. I covered my face with my hands, my hands shaking.
“Please s-stop!” I felt someone push me against the lockers.
“Haven! It's okay, look its just the boys.” I heard Mark say. My hands were still shaking. I slowly lowered them and looked up to see four guilty expressions. Niall was trying to contain his laughter. After a minute he let loose and cracked up causing Mark to crack up, easing the tension. I let a small smile slip on my face so no one would get notice my tiny panic attack.
“Freaking losers.” Mark said, laughing and running a hand through his hair. He fist bumped the boys.
“You should've seen her face dude.” Louis said, cracking up.
I noticed Liam walk towards me and as soon as he got close enough I shoved his chest.
“You scared the hell out of me Liam!” He laughed lightly and I remembered how much I missed hearing it. He grabbed my hands as I was about to shove him again for laughing at me and pulled me in for a tight hug.
“Mmm, I missed you so much.”
“Did you really?” I teased.
“Are ye gonna introduce us or what?” Niall said. I pulled away embarrassed and noticed Vida and Jose gathered along with James and Lola who had somehow taged along too.
