Chapter 5
Liams POV
I watched her walk on, her eye slowly closing as she fell away. I watched her, shocked.
Haven sang.
Like me.
When I heard her voice, it was like she was speaking to me. She wasn't just singing the music, she was singing pain. I could hear it I her voice, all the emotion purging out of her as if it had been locked away for years.
You'll understand everything.
And suddenly, it clicked. The song was telling her story. She had been hurt by someone, and was too afraid to move on. The way she was walking on stage, in her dress looking so small, it felt as if she was in her own world. Not knowing how enthralled the crowd was of her, how she captivated them with her beauty and strong emotion.
When she finished, I watched her break out of her trance, and noticed some tears that I desperately wanted to remove. She stood or a second before rushing off the stage.
I was still in such a trance, it took me a moment before I saw her fly right past me. I grabbed her arm just in time and pulled her against me. Her eyes widened and she looked terrified as she looked up to me.
“Shh, it's just me.” I cupped her face, using my thumbs to wipe her tears.
“L-liam? Y-you c-c-came?” I heard her stutter, and it broke my heart just the fact she thought I would stand her up. Especially for something as important as this. I watched her shut her eyes, as if she was frustrated with herself.
“Of course I did. I can't even begin to explain what your voice does to me Haven. You had me wrapped around you fingers with that. I felt every single note, every word you sang on that stage and I am humbled you let me in.” I still had her face in my hands, she shut her eyes as more tears fell.
“Why are you crying? Please, stop.”
“I've n-never had anyone f-feel that w-way about m-me or how I s-sing. I've never opened m-myself up l-like” She pushed my hands away and turned to face the other way. “God damn, I cant even talk straight. I'm s-sorry.” She grabbed her head in her hands.
I turned her around, not saying anything and just hugged her. Her small frame only reached my chest and it was one of those moments, you know you'd never forget.
She was broken. She didn't show it, but I could see it.
“Thank you. I have no idea whats wrong with me.” She pulled away and wiped her eyes.
“I understand. It's fine.”
Taking a breath, she tried again.
“Thank you so much. I've only known you for half a week and this the most i've opened up to someone before. I guess its a bit overwhelming. I just don't know if I can carry on with this. Talking to you. Don't get me wrong your an amazing guy-”
“Have you not seen what I look like?” I cut her off and her mouth formed an o and she took in my dark black hoodie, black jeans, slippers and a red bandana around my nose and mouth, so that I was unrecognizable. “I would never put you in the spotlight like that. You dont want the paps to see you? It'll just make seeing each other a lot more exciting.”
The laugh that etched across her face made my heart soar. Real manly Liam. Just wait till Zayn hears how whooped you are.
“Ma'am, there are a bunch of people that really want to meet you outside.”
“Me?” I noticed how her eyebrows scrunched up.
“Yes.”
“Okay, i'll be right out, thank you.” She turned to me with a torn look. “Do you think people will recognize you, if you go out?”
“I dont want to take the chance. I'll just sneak out the back, I had my cup of coffee.” I gave her a wink and started to walk away when I did a three-sixty. “When will I see you again?” I called out.
“You won't. This time, your gonna be the one looking for me.” She winked back at me and I stood there shocked as she walked away.
This girl is going to drive me crazy.
