Chapter 4
Havens POV
When I was in the car I was still smiling and I looked over to my mom who was looking over at me with a concerned expression.
“You never mentioned this boy, Haven.”
“Right. I'm sorry it just slipped my mind. Im really sorry.” I bit my lip, hoping this wouldnt come in between whatever we patched up tonight.
“Just... try to remember these things okay? It's just ever since the incident I get...” She sighed and turned away pressing her finger to the corner of her eyes.
“Mom, look at me. I let that go a long time ago. It kills me too, everyday. But I cant let it prevent me from moving on. It's hard for me too.” I grabbed her hands, willing myself to be strong.
“Your right. I'll try.” She gave me a forced smile, and even though I was sure she wasn't convinced I let it go.
I switched on the radio to let go of some of the tension and rolled down the windows.
Once we got home I was about to head up, when my mom called out fro the kitchen.
“Rose?”
“Yes mom?” I stopped half way up the steps.
“Thank you.”
“Anytime mom.” I instinctively smiled and continued my way up the steps. I stripped out of my clothes, washed my face and brushed my teeth and then changed into my pajamas.
I was just about to pull the covers over my face when I heard my phone scream the lyrics to The Fray across the room, almost giving me a heart attack. I scrambled out of bed and answered the phone.
“Hello?” I answered breathlessly.
“Hey, it's me Liam. Is it too late? I can call you tomorrow? Im-”
“It's fine, I just forgot. I should've kept my phone beside of me.” Hearing his voice instantly made me calm.
“Your not tired are you?”
“Nah. You?”
“Nah.” Niether of us said anything and I had no idea what to say.
“I see you took our advice and took your mom out.” He said after a minute (longest minute of my life.)
“I did. We really needed that. Thank you so much.” I walked to my bed and sunk in, lying down.
“Ah, we're just glad we could help. Glad it went well.”
“Yeah, so how was your day?” I asked, trying to add my input.
“It was pretty great, had a relaxing day with my my 4 idiots.” I heard him laugh and I could just tell how happy he was.
“You guys are really close huh?”
“Like brothers. I don't think I can live without them. We go through a lot you know?”
“Yeah I think so. That's really amazing.”
“You seem pretty close with Mason too. That boy from the ice cream parlor?” His voice seemed to get deeper.
“You mean Mark?” I let out a low laugh.
“Yeah, him.”
“Oh no. Well I mean we're just friend for right now. I don't think he sees me like that.”
“Do you see him like that?” I thought about that for a moment.
“Eh, no. He's more like a brother actually.”
