Normal POV
"Neville! I didn't know you were a Prefect . Congratulations!" Hermione said when the Headmaster left.
Neville smiled and nodded. "Nor did I. My grandma nearly passed out when I showed her the letter..."Neville looked towards Malfoy and Parkinson. "We have to befriend them, huh? It's going to be a loooong year."
Hermione frowned. "Don't tell me"
"Hello Hermione." A soft dreamy voice said; Luna Lovegood.
Hermione watched her as her lips formed a smile. "Oh, hi Luna, how is it going?"
"Yes, very good, thank you but I'd rather team up with your house. Ravenclaw and Gryffindor have a long, long history," Luna said, crossing her arm with Neville's.
"Right. Well, I have to go, see you at school."
She smiled and slipped away from the compartment.
☆"With Slytherin? Are they serious?" Ginny shouted when Hermione told them about the meeting with the Prefects.
Hermione nodded. "Yes. And we have to share a common room! Not to mention that we have to attend two with three whole classes with them per day."
"Merlin's beard, help us! This is the most unfair thing in the entire wizarding world." Ginny groaned.
"It will be a miracle if I won't punch Malfoy this year." Harry said.
"Don't tell me. It will be another miracle If I won't let you in the common room just to stab him in his sleep" She scoffed.
"I wouldn't say that, if I were you, Granger," said a rather mean voice as the door of their compartment was wide opening.
Hermione's eyes landed on Draco Malfoy leaning at the door, having Pansy Parkinson right behind him.
Hermione ignored the killer look at Pansy's eyes.
"Then again, I do believe that if you were me, you would say the same." Hermione responded calmly, crossing her arms..
Draco frowned but didn't reply.
"What do you want, Malfoy?" Harry asked as he looked at him carefully with his green eyes.
"What do I want? What do I...I'll tell you what I want. No, no I'll tell you what I don't want. I don't want to live with a mudblood. I don't want to work with a mudblood. I-"
Hermione stood up and walked to Draco ."I don't want to live with a crying brat. And definitely I don't want to live with a crying slut. But see, Malfoy; life isn't fair. Get over it. "She said, with her voice sharper that she wanted to.
"Well, well Granger. I didn't know that you could swear! You have a rather bad tongue for a Head Girl." Malfoy said and laughed. Then a moment later, Parkinson laughed hysterically. How Hermione hated him. Her. Them.
Hermione's fingers curled into fist. "Will you tell me why are you here ,Malfoy?"
"I Just-Damn Pansy! Get your hands off me!" Draco said while he turned to Pansy, who shot him an angel look.
"Sorry, Drakie, I thought you liked it." She said widening her eyes.
Hermione couldn't decide if she had to laugh, cry or vomit. Or all three at the same time."Come on, Drakie, Let's go away from the mudblood and her losers.. I mean friends." Pansy went on.
Hermione turned to Draco and acted like Pansy; She opened her eyes wide and high-pitched her voice. "Yes, Drakie. Come on. I can follow you eveeerywhere. We should go at the end of the train and snog until we reach Hogwarts, then we can snog more!"
Ginny and Harry laughed.
Draco pressed his lips. And stepped away from the passengers' carriage.
"Bye, Drakie. See you at school." Hermione shouted loud enough for him to hear.
He paused , like he wanted to turn and say something but then kept walking.
Hermione took a last glance of him and sat back at her seat. She looked at her best friends opposite her and saw somebody was missing."Where's Ron?" said she, not knowing it was a hard question to ask.
Ginny and Harry looked at each other.
"He left twenty minutes before you came but I don't- we don't, uh, know where exactly he is." Ginny said.
Hermione sighted. She knew exactly where he was; somewhere near Lavender Brown.
"He's on the train." Harry said and earned a deadly look from Ginny.
"Well, obviously Harry." Ginny said, rolling her eyes.
" 'Mione,I still can't understand why you broke up.. I mean you were a loving couple." Harry said. It took a while to notice the daggers, Ginny sent him just by looking at him. "What?"
"It's okay Ginny." Hermione started. "Don't you remember? He constantly thought I was cheating on him. Me. Cheating. Every time I smiled to someone, or even talked, he went on and on about how I was so unfaithful to him. I was sick of it. I tried to calm him, I was tired of saying the truth over and over again. Ron didn't believe me. So one day he was like, ' I want to break up with you because I can't be with such an unfaithful girl.' And the next day I saw him snogging Lavender." She said quickly, playing with her fingers. She realized that she was a failure in love. Crap.
"He is a moron for dumping you," Ginny said, angrily, crossing her arms.
"It's better that you realized it quickly. If he is such person when in love, then I must say you have your whole life ahead you."
Hermione nodded but didn't believe it. "Right. Well, we are approaching Hogwarts. You better get ready, I'm going to check on the freshmen."
And she stormed out of the door.
