"Are you alright? You seem very.. Distracted recently." Simon speaks, taking one stride closer to me.

"I-I'm fine.. Just tired." I sigh, rubbing my eyes.

"Do you get much sleep?" He wonders, taking another step closer.

Any closer and our chest would be touching.

But that wouldn't be so bad.

"Um.. I sometimes get night terrors.. But other than that, I get about six hours or something." I rub the back of my neck, and he gasps slightly.

"You need to get so much more sleep. Its not good for your health, physically or mentally." He informs me.

I'm taken aback by how much he knew.

"How'd you know that?" I mutter, and he smirks.

"Well A, I'm not brain-dead, and B, my mother was a nurse." He explains, lips ever so slowly curling into a smug smile.

"Really? Where did she work?" I question, and he chuckles.

"Ah.. Here's the thing. I've told you one thing about me, I won't tell you anything else until you tell me something about yourself." He smirks, and I sigh.

"Why are you so invested in me?" I mumble through semi-clenched teeth to hold back a yawn.

I then see him slowly reach his hand out, his smooth skin slowly touching my cheek, causing my breath to hitch.

"Because you're very closed off, but I can tell you're curious about me. And besides, I want to get to know you better." He smiles softly, and I do my best to hide my smile.

"You're making this very hard for me to do my job you know.." I groan quietly.

"How so?" He whispers, taking a small step closer so our toes are touching.

"You're so mysterious and I find that attractive." I mutter, and he hums.

"You know.. You're quite the person yourself. You're sexy and feisty and can be a prick at times, but your aggressiveness is hot." He murmurs, and I instantly feel my heart race.

"Simon.. I want to kiss you." I choke out, and he smiles, etching his lips closer to mine.

"What's stopping you?" He breathes against my lips.

I feel his lips ghosting mine. My heart says do it, but my head says no.

I take one stride backwards.

"My career and my sanity." I gulp, ripping his hand off my cheek.

His face drops.

"I-I'm sorry.. That was really wrong of me." He swallows heavily, rubbing his hands together nervously.

"Hey.. Don't worry about it. It's okay." I stop him.

"I'm sorry." He apologizes, and I shake my head.

"It's okay." I smile.

We stand there for a bit, silence between us, muffled chatter barely audible from the main room.

"Josh?" Simon breaks the thin silence.

"Hm?" I hum, looking up from my feet.

"Why do you care so much about your patients?" Simon pouts slightly, crossing his arms over his chest as he waits for a response.

"Well.. They are humans. Humans do stupid shit on a daily, why should they be getting punished for something they did? Yeah, some things they've done were insane, but maybe that was their way of coping with something else. I dunno.. I just feel sympathy for them." I sigh, and he hums.
