:two days later:

Josh's POV

"Look." Simon hisses, his arm pointing into the distance.

It was nightfall, the treetops whistling as the wind flows through them, the ground damp with the ever melting snow.

"Lights." I murmur, my hand squeezing his.

"Where is this then?" He questions quietly, and I shrug, releasing his warm hand from mine and kneeling onto the forest floor, heaving the backpack over my shoulder.

I begin to unzip it, reaching for the map. It had a red line in which we have been following. The next city: London.

"Its London." I smile, showing the spot on the map to Simon.

Even in the dark of night, I see his face light up, his eyes beaming with excitement.

"This... This is London!" He shouts, before embracing me tightly, my body collapsing to the ground.

We laugh. We laugh until our eyes are wet with tears and our stomachs are in stitches.

"We've done it." I giggle, pressing my lips to his, my hands attached to his cheeks as our lips move as one.

He pulls away all too soon, standing up, and offering a hand to me. I take it, immediately intertwining them.

I begin to collect our luggage, adjusting my jumper as we start to stumble forward. Towards the city, towards the lights, towards our new beginning.

"What do we do now?" He asks, and I hum silently.

"Well.. We need to get a new identity. We need to fix our hair, get a new outfit, change our appearance. JJ gave me a card with a name on a lad who can make us a fake ID and passport." I suggest, and he nods.

"How much money do we have?" He asks, his stomach soon yearning for food with a rumble.

"I don't think we have enough." I sigh, our breaths getting heavier as we peer over the hill.

London was beautiful. It was quiet at this hour, but people were still driving the streets. Lights were twinkling under the moonlight, tall buildings with dim lights littered the city. This- this is what freedom looked like, felt like, smelled like.

"I cannot believe... " He trails off, his hand squeezing mine.

I face him, his lips curled up in a glowing smile. I press a shallow kiss to them, before wrapping my arm around his waist, pulling his hip into mine.

We stand there for a few moments, taking in the sight of the city.

"We need to be careful still, Simon." I break the comfortable silence, his response being a nod.

"I know." He sighs, hearing the disappointment in his tone.

I rub his side comfortingly, my hand slipping under his jumper, squeezing at the warm flesh beneath my tips.

"This won't last forever." I assure him, and he nods, once again, his face slowly falling.

I don't believe my words, not yet, but I release a small breath, before reclaiming his hand and starting down the hill, into the city.

:six hours later:

Simon's POV

My eyes slowly open, a dull throb pulsing through my back and legs as I push myself up from the ground. I look around, seeing the small electrical building beside me, remnants of last nights events flashing through my mind as I look towards my fiance.

His face was dusted with snow, his arms tucked against his chest. I frown.

I realize the only blanket we had was wrapped around my body, his body solely covered by a jumper and thin pair of trousers.

"Shit." I hiss, brushing the snow off his face.

His lips were bright blue, a slight tremble in them. I sigh, cupping his cheeks with my hands in an attempt to warm them.

"Josh, wake up." I say aloud, his eyes rapidly moving behind his lids.

I sigh once again, pressing my lips to his. I feel the icy temperature of his lips touch mine, causing a rush of energy to shoot down my spine.

I pull away, his eyes slowly fluttering open.

"S-Sim-mon." He shivers, his whole body beginning to tremble intensely.

I quickly rip the blanket off my body, tucking it under his sides and over his torso, feeling the wind nip at my clothed body.

"Shh, it's okay." I coo, curling my body to his as I rapidly rub my arms over his shivering body.

"Y-You w-were sh-shiv-vering s-so much l-last night-t." He croaks, and I immediately feel tears brim my eyes.

"I love you." I chuckle sadly, one of my hands creeping to his cheek, the other holding his hands.

"I-I ju-ust want-ted you t-to be w-warm." He smiles weakly, and I hum.

We lay there for a few minutes, until his trembling slows to a small shiver.

"I think I'm okay now." He mutters into my ear, and I smile, kissing his cheek softly.

"Alright, you stay there, I'm gonna look for the money." I order, and he nods.

I detach my body from his, leaning over and pulling his backpack into my lap. I reach into the front pocket, pulling out the bills and coins.

"Three, four, five..." I mumble as I count the money in my hands.

I grumble, rubbing my eyes with my hands.

"We only have twelve pounds exactly." I sigh.

"I-its okay." He says quietly, my hands finding my face.

I rub circles into my temple. How is this gonna be enough to do anything?

"Simon-"

"There isn't enough!" I scream, slamming my fist into the hard soil beneath my hand, the contact sending a shock of pain up my arm.

I wail out in pain, cradling my hand to my chest. Tears well up again, my jaw clenched tightly.

"I should've never offered to protect him." I mumble, shaking my head in disappointment.

Josh sighs, "You were trying to help him-"

"I wasn't. I thought I loved him, I thought I could die for him, I'd sacrifice my life for him, simply because I felt I had no better thing to do in life except please him... My master." I spit venomously, aggressively wiping the stray tear from my cheek.

"That was before I read in the paper, that was before I found everything out about Callum and Shannon, and how horrible the asylum was. The next night, I had already turned myself in." I explain, Josh's shoulders hunched, his face fallen with sorrow.

"I'm sorry, Simon." He mumbles quietly, and I sigh, standing up and shaking the light snow from my legs.

"Its not your fault, its my fault for thinking he was the best thing I'd ever had. Turns out, it was you, and he was Satan himself, disguised as a God." I offer my hand to his, his chilly hand talking mine, and my arms soon embracing his skinny frame.

"You're the best thing that has ever happened to me, if that makes any difference." He nips at my earlobe, before pressing a short kiss to my cheek, and standing back, his hands on my shoulders.

"And I love you." He assures me with a small shake and a smile, a genuine, beaming smile, despite the slight shiver.

"Words can't even describe my love for you, Simon."
