That sinking feeling

It's one of those phone calls you really don't ever want to receive. One of those times your heart plummets in your chest and your legs give way underneath you. Those heart-wrenching words no human wants to hear.

"Don't panic but..." The voice said on the other end of the phone, making Taylor tense up immediately.

It was Luke, Tom's publicist, calling from Germany where they were shooting parts of "Avengers: Infinity Wars part 2". It was late morning there, meaning it was early in the morning in Nashville, where Taylor currently was.

"...Tom got himself in a bit of a mess early this morning during one of the stunts... basically he is in hospital." Luke said, sighing slightly, having never wanted to make these types of calls to Tom's family or significant other.

"Oh my goodness!" Taylor said, in shock as she sunk back down on her bed, having stood up to answer her phone. "Is he okay? What was he doing? What happened? Luke, is he badly hurt?"

"Breathe Taylor, please, Tom would strangle me if he knew I made you pass out or something." Luke said, rubbing his hand over his face as he thought of the best way to word it.

"Well I will strangle you if you don't just tell me what's going on with my husband." Taylor said, gritting her teeth slightly.

Tom was only meant to be in Europe for another 2 days, only needing to be there for a total of 2 weeks. Taylor had opted to not go this time, choosing to stay in Nashville.

"Basically he tripped and fell off a purpose built structure, hitting his head a little and badly bruising his whole left side. The doctors say nothing is broken but he does have mild concussion. They've signed him off work for a week, meaning the last day of shoot is being pushed back, but also that he won't be home when he was meant to be since he can't travel." Luke explained, "He is awake and talking a little, but not up to much more."

"Oh my goodness.... I have to get there as soon as I can." Taylor said, already thinking about what she needed to get booked and sorted to get there as soon as possible.

"Umm.... I don't think that is a great idea..." Luke said hesitantly.

"And why is that Luke?" Taylor asked, half curious, half pissed off.

"Tom doesn't want you travelling.....And he doesn't know I called you....." Luke said, sounding slightly like a scared child.

"Well you better man up and let him know that we will be there in 2 days, no matter what he says and no matter what I previously said. It's perfectly fine to travel, trust me, and I would much rather be there with him than here. See you soon Luke. I will let you know when the flight gets in." Taylor said, hanging up before Luke could argue any more.

---------------------------------------

"So I called Taylor....." Luke said as he sat next to Tom's bed, "She's...um...she's booked a flight."

"What? But she's not meant to!" Tom said, trying to sit up on his hospital bed, but falling back again in pain.

"She said she was coming no matter what and that it was fine to travel." Luke said, trying to sound confident.

"But Gus is only a month old!" Tom said, lifting his good arm up and placing it on his face. He was worried, but also deep down he was excited – his wife and baby boy were going to be there soon!

The reason Taylor had not come with him was that 2 weeks before he was meant to be shooting the movie, she gave birth to their son Angus. They had decided, due to the distance and his young age, Taylor would stay in Nashville where her mom could help out while Tom shot for 2 weeks. Following the shoots in Europe he would be back for nearly a month before shooting began in Canada, which Taylor and Gus would join him for. Angus was now a month old, and apparently would be crossing the Atlantic for the first time.

----------------------------

"Okay little man. Daddy is in room 213. And 13 is special to mommy, but I'll save that story for some other time." Taylor said to Angus as she walked up the hall to find Tom's room.

Luckily Taylor's airplane was able to fly the distance from Nashville to Berlin with only one refuelling stop, meaning she didn't have to fly commercial with Angus for his first flight. He had been very well behaved for the majority of the flight, sleeping for large chunks meaning Taylor could also sleep a little.

"Taylor!" Luke said, walking in the opposite direction, balancing some drinks in his hands.

"Luke!" Taylor said, smiling at him and opening the door he nodded at, letting him through first.

"Wakey wakey Mr Hiddleston! I have coffee and you have visitors!" Luke said, making Tom jump slightly, having not heard the door open.

"Stop your racket Luke!" Tom said, sounding annoyed and frowning, until he turned towards where Taylor was standing, smirking slightly, "My darlings! Come here."

"Hello to you too." Taylor said, making her way over to his bed and leaning down to give him a light kiss.

"I'll be outside if you need me." Luke said, smiling as he slipped out of the room.

"You really didn't have to come." Tom said smiling, as Taylor sat on the edge of the bed on his good side.

"Of course I was going to come, don't be an idiot! As soon as Luke called I was getting everything sorted to-." Taylor said until she was interrupted by a whine from the sling wrap on her chest. She smiled, having almost forgotten the littlest member of their family.

Tom's eyes widened along with his smile as she gently lifted Angus out from his wrap and lay him gently on Tom's chest.

"Hello little sir.... I've missed you.... You've grown so much!" Tom said, stroking Angus's back gently as he wiggled around, and looking up at Taylor with happy tears in his eyes.

"So, as I was saying, I got everything sorted and the flight plan confirmed so we could use the jet instead of commercial..... and here we are!" She finished saying, picking up the take-away cup with her name on it from the table.

"How was the flight? How was Gus?" Tom asked.

"He was an angel.... Which doesn't mean I can promise it will be the same on the way back or anything, but it made my life easier for sure." Taylor said, looking at her two boys together again. "But enough about us, how are you my love?"

"I've been better.... A little beat up, but nothing they can't cover with make-up next week. The concussion is clearing a little, still fussy and movement is not the best but hopefully by the end of the week I will be ready to shot for 2 more days and then head home!" Tom said, trying to sound light about it all.

"And your stunt double will be doing all the dangerous stuff, right?" Taylor asked, which he nodded and rolled his eyes at. "Also we won't be going home after. This week we are relaxing here, then after your shoot days we are taking the train to London and going to visit your mom for a few days. I figured she needs to meet Angus and you still need some recuperation time."

"You are perfect, you know." Tom said, reaching out to hold her hand.

Angus obviously realised he wasn't getting any attention and started to whimper.

"Baby snack time." Taylor said, smirking as she pulled the room chair over and lifting Angus back up to nurse him.

Tom sighed contentedly as he realised that having his wife and son here was probably the best medicine he could ask for. He made a mental note to make sure Luke knew he wasn't actually angry about it.
