"La la la la la la la" A little girl sang to herself, with her fingers in her ears, smiling cheekily at her father, seated in front of her.
"Jaz.... Please listen to me or we won't be leaving the house tonight." Tom pleaded slightly, trying to pull her hands away from her ears.
"But we have to go!" She gasped.
"Exactly. So please get your trainers and sweatshirt from your room and come back down here." He said, standing up from being knelt on the floor in front of his daughter on her little chair in the play room, where she had been watching a cartoon.
Jasmine quickly scrambled out of the room and down the hall to her room.
"Okay.... So we have sweaters, shoes, blankets, snacks and drinks, toys, ear protectors.... And 3 small people." Tom said, listing everything off to himself as he walked down the hall to his sons' rooms. "Gus, shoes and jacket please."
Angus was almost 7, Jasmine was just 4, and Zachary was 2.
Tonight Tom was in charge of the kids and they were already late leaving the house to go see their mother perform. Taylor was finally on tour again, having planned it well so the 4 months she was touring Tom was mainly not filming. She had performed 20 shows of her 40 dates so far, and tonight she was in Nashville for the first of 2 nights. The family mainly lived just outside Nashville, as it was quieter than LA or NYC and both Taylor and Tom loved the city. It was most definitely not the first time the kids were seeing her show, having been to the first show in New York and a couple over their summer vacation in Europe.
"We go see mommy?" Zac asked sleepily as Tom woke him up to go, having left him to nap as much as possible before the show.
"Indeed we are little man." Tom said, smiling at his youngest son.
The kids hadn't seen Taylor for almost a week, so they were aiming to get to the stadium in time to have dinner with she and the band before the show..... which wasn't going to happen unless they left immediately.
"Jaz? Gus? Are you guys ready?" Tom called from Zac's room as he got the little boy's shoes and sweatshirt on.
"Yeah Dad.... I've got the snacks bag and Jaz has the blankets." Gus called back, always organised like his mother, although a lot more sports obsessed and proficient.
"Come on daddddddyyyyyyy!" Jaz called, twirling in circles as she waited as patiently as she could by the front door.
"I'm here crazy girl.... Okay, out to the car. It's unlocked!" Tom said, ushering them out the door towards the car in the driveway, locking the door behind him and carrying Zac over to get him in his seat. "And let's cross our fingers and toes that there isn't too much traffic."
---------------------------------------
"Tay, sit down, you're making us all dizzy!" Kelsea, who was Taylor's special guest for the night, said as Taylor walked back and forth in the large dressing room/lounge area they were sitting in.
"Oh... sorry...." Taylor said, plonking herself down on a sofa and playing with her fingers.
"They'll be here soon enough... Apparently the roads around here are gridlocked." Kelsea said, laughing slightly as she knew the exact reason for Taylor's anxiety. "I'm gonna get going, but I'll come back to say hi to your clan."
Almost as soon as Kelsea had left, Taylor heard the door open and two voice call out to her. She turned and saw Gus and Jaz run towards her.
"Hey guys!!" She said, looking up as she hugged them both to see her husband carrying their sleepy youngest in his arms. She smiled at him as he winked at her slightly.
"Sorry we ot late... apparently a Taylor Swift concert means traffic is gridlocked. Thank goodness we could get in the back without going into that parking lot!" Tom said, chuckling slightly as Taylor came over and gave him a kiss before plucking Zac out of his arms and peppering his face with kisses.
"You're here, that's the main thing! And guess what I got for dinner?" Taylor said, smiling at her kids.
"Pizza??" Gus asked excitedly.
"Got it in one, my smart boy!" Taylor replied, ruffling his hair slightly as they all sat down, "It should be here in a few minutes."
They all spent the next 45 minutes eating pizza and talking about what they had all been up to for the last week, despite having spoken on the phone almost more than daily. Soon the kids got bored of talking and got out toys and books they had brought with them, on top of the ones that Taylor had in the dressing room for when they visited.
"So... how was it this week?" Taylor asked Tom as they sat for a few minutes without the kids around and without any other distractions.
"Not bad... It helped that Gus and Jazzy were at school, so it was just the little man and I at home.... And the cats." Tom said with a slightly chuckle as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and watched their kids, "Although it will be nice to have you home for a few days."
"Yeah.... It will be nice to be home." She agreed, looking up at him slightly and smiling just as a crew member knocked on the door to tell her it was time to get ready.
"Okay. Kids, time to pack up and get out to watch the show!" Tom said, standing up and clapping his hands together, "Shoes and sweatshirts back on, toys away, and give your mother a kiss before she goes."
"So authoritative!" Taylor said giggling at it.
"You love it darling." Tom said with a wink, making her blush slightly as her kids came over and gave her kisses before getting ready to watch the show.
"I'll see you all afterwards. Love you all!" Taylor called out as she flew out of the room to get ready, realising the crew had kindly left her for a little bit longer than usual.
"Let's get going Thing 1 ,2, and 3. It's time to party!" Tom said, making Gus groan slightly, while Jaz danced on the spot and Zac looked confused.
