Everything was enveloped in darkness. My hand came to greet my face with a powerful blow. I winced in pain, holding my throbbing cheek: ‘Not dreaming,’
I held my arm before me, squinting at it through the darkness: ‘Nor blind; might need glasses though,’
Not dreaming or blind, just very very lost. I felt around, searching for a place to rest. I fell forwards against the trunk of a tree, turning round and sinking to the ground.
“Hope mum aint worried,” This would be the second time she’d have me disappearing on her.
I woke with a start. Jumping to my feet but then being forced back down by the gravity which didn’t yet agree with me. With the help of the tree, I hoisted myself aback up.
‘I can’t believe I slept in a place like this,’ I let my eyes skim over the surroundings; your typical overgrown, scary woods. Remembering the occurrences of last night (and ignoring my very grumpy stomach -_-“) I started limping down a stone paved path. To where? I had no clue (hopefully home).
Boy- was I far from right.
“Wow she’s hot- what’s your name girly?”
I ignored the comment, along with the question.
“Aww, what’s the matter babe? Don’cha wanna hang wid us?”
Head bowed, I marched on, and they followed.
“Not very safe for a lil missy like yerself to be walkin’ in a place like this, ya know,”
My pace quickened.
“Come with us and we’ll-“
Swerving sharply on my heels, I gently slapped away his hand, “Don’t touch me,” With that, I sprang away with new found energy.
But like the back of wolves they were, they came after me.
“Feisty one, eh? Just my type,”
I froze momentarily at the boys words, wanting so badly to turn around and slap him into a comma. But it was five against one, and they were all male; odds clearly not in my favor. Breathing to ten, and finally relaxing, I pushed on forwards.
Persistence for a good cause is great and all, but persistent jerks with no morals and a lack of hygiene...not so much. It’d been an hour and twenty seven minutes since I’d encountered the group of boys. And they’d been harassing me nonstop since then. Either they have way too much time on their hands, or their extremely dedicated skirt chasing scum. I came to stop at another tree. They stopped with me, watching my movements closely as if I were an exhibit.
“Why are you people following me?” I watched them ,watching me, “If you want money, I aint got none so go bother someone else.”
They were quiet, unlike their previous selves; staying a distance away and whispering amongst themselves. I showed signs of standing and they edged away a little. I sat back down and they moved inwards.
My annoyance peaked, “Why the heck are you following me?! I told you I have no money on me! And I’d sooner die than come in any form of physical contact with the likes of you five,”
Aggravated, I leaped onto my feet and bolted. They followed in hot pursuit. I ran, they chased, till there was no more road to escape on.
‘Oh fudge!’
“You!” One of the five, clearly the leader, spoke, “Are you a human?” He approached and I backed away.
Gulping, I looked over my shoulder at the bottomless pit that sat open behind me, getting ready to suck me in. While fretting about the black hole seated comfortably behind me, I hadn’t noticed the leader standing before me. When I did, However, I jumped at the closeness.
