The Woman of Truth__

A Week Later_

"Mama. Mama. Mommy." I whisper, pushing her as she slept. She groans turning over as I laugh. Today is her birthday of course, and she turned 36. I made her breakfast to bring up to her, but she probably won't eat it. I've been trying to wake her up for the last hour, but she won't budge. It's looks as if she was reading the journal all night and finished it. She got to the last entree as I did.

"Mommy." I whine. She smacks her lips, rising from the mattress in deep sighs. I guess she's not use to me waking up for her birthday, it's usually my father with a chocolate cupcake and a candle. Not this time.

"Why you look all mean like that it's your birthday." I chuckle. She smiles weakly as I sit beside her. She reaches over the nightstand for the journal, handing it back to me in sighs.

"I believe you, Ms. Stocks and your father. I guess I was just too blind to see it. I thought he was just being a nice guy, helping out when needed. I didn't know he was lusting after me. I guess I should of picked up on it, the night we had sex and when that picture broke he threw it away. Something told me to go look in that trash that morning. Then he kept coming around after I told him I regret what we did that night. He just wouldn't leave me be." She sighs and shakes her head.

"Do you remember that night you and Avant..." It just made me sick thinking about it. But I had to know if she remembered anything. I haven't had that dream since that time I got a little further, and she woke me up. I think I know what the rest was about to reveal to me though. I look at my mother as she furrows her eyebrows, looking down at the floor.

"I remember bits and pieces." She mumbles.

"Do you remember him saying anything that was out of line, or suspicious?" I question. My mother thinks for a while, tilting her head.

"He said something on the lines of I'm doing what you asked for. Or..."

"I'm giving you what you're asking for?" I question. She nods vigorously.

"Yea yea. But he put been in there. He said, I'm giving you what you've been asking for. It confused the hell out of me because I never asked him for shit." She mummers. I nod sitting pretzel style in the bed as she does the same.

"Why would he say that? What were y'all talking about before you came up here?" I question.

"We were just talking about your father and our relationship. I told him about the time that your father and I split for a year and how he had another child- oh my gosh." She gasps, standing up to her feet.

"What?" I question in interest. She paces the floor somewhat antsy as she shakes her head.

"That Christmas Eve in 2005. Your father came home late from the division. And him and I were outside arguing and for the first time your father argued back. I asked where has been and why did he smell like some female but he wouldn't tell me. I remember saying if he cheated on me..." She pauses as tears brew in her eyes, folding her arms over her chest as she rubs up and down her forearms.

"I didn't mean to say it, I was just upset at the time. Just imagining him with someone else after everything we went through, hurt me, but I wouldn't dare lay a finger on that man. He was my everything, he's been my everything. Even though he's not here right now, he still has a place in my heart. Always will. We both said somethings we shouldn't have said, but I think Avant took my words to literal. He was outside the day when your father and I argued." My mother says and sniffs.
