((I DO NOT like the new update for the Wattpad app. Just saying.))
It's a hot day during an early spring. The team was probably somewhere in West Virginia, where there were hills, mountains, tons of farmland and fields as far as the eye could see. It was beautiful to say the least and Columbus had to go and ruin it by saying he needed them to stop to use the bathroom. He walks into the gas station with his shot gun while the rest of them hang outside. Right now, they were in the middle of nowhere, the gas station being the only thing left standing of somewhat civilization. The last town was about an hour back and the next one would have them driving through a mountain to get there in their huge Hummer. Tallahassee was leaning against the car door, chewing on a piece of barley between his lips, his arms and legs crossed as he peeks out from under his hat to watch Brooklyn and Quantico mess around with some sticks and spar with each other. LA had the car door window he was leaning against open so she could peek out and watch the scene with him, smiling slightly.
"They don't ever grow up, do they." She states more than asks him.
"Hell no." Tally responds while watching Quantico jump onto Brooklyn's back and ride him around, both of them laughing.
Suddenly, there's a girlish scream and two gun shots, the noise making everyone freeze at the sound of something dying with a gnarly squeal. They look over to see Columbus running around the corner of the gas station, shot gun in his hands as he sprints towards them. Nothing followed behind him, but there was still a look of terror and streams of tears running down his face.
Tallahassee's shocked. It feels like it's been years since Columbus had cried. For once, he saw the kid's old self again. LA pushes herself out of the car, pushing Tally aside to reach Columbus as she rubbed his back, coaching him to breathe again that the kid didn't even realized he had stopped doing so. He was only looking at the cowboy staring at him strangely however, as he slowly choked out,
"W-Wichita. It's...It's Wichita."
He didn't need to be told twice as Tallahassee pushed himself up from the car and took his pickaxe in hand while Columbus slowly led him back to the bathrooms. He was still crying, his lithe form shaking wildly as LA had to hold him in order to keep him upright. Brooklyn and Quantico follow and they all round the corner to see what Columbus spoke about, and something unpleasant tightens in Tallahassee's throat.
The body of a corpse that was rotting even before Columbus shot it, was laying motionless on the pavement, blood, bile and gore surrounding the decaying flesh. As the redneck walked closer, he could make out the familiar hair and eyeliner smearing over the pale and rotting skin that peeled like a pastry. A very expired pastry.
It was none other then the zombified version of their beloved con, Wichita.
Columbus was literally shaking at the knees, sobbing uncontrollably after just experiencing the most horrifying moment of his life...shooting someone he cared about because she would've eaten him alive.
Tallahassee had to swallow whatever he was fighting to feel and looked away, his jaw tightens as he blinks rapidly. His open hand balls into a fist and then he surprised everyone by screaming, making them all jump out of their skins,
"LITTLE ROCK! WHERE ARE YOU?!"
"Tal...she-! She's not here..." Columbus whimpered, while the other three looked at each other, trying to figure out what's going on.
"She has to be nearby." Tallahassee growled like a rabid dog. He drops his weapon and goes running down the dirt road, the others quickly following him, "Those two fucking bitches always get themselves into trouble without us! It was only a matter of time!" He kept yelling as they all kept running.
