A call from a payphone changes everything.

"Hello?" Logan chimes while picking up her cellphone.

"Is this Logan McCarthy?"

She froze, fingers tight on the shirt she was trying to fold. No one should know her phone number, least of all Logan McCarthy's phone number. The female's voice sounds sweet and innocent on the other end, but being next to Merritt for nearly two years makes the magician believe this mysterious woman is anything but innocent.

"Who is this," she demands, her lips lowering to a frown, "No one is supposed to know my number, not even my real name. Who are you."

"My name is Sydney, I'm in New York right now. Ian sent me."

"...I think you've got the wrong Logan. I don't know any Ian's."

"Shit, sorry. He said you'd say that. Jack. Jack sent me."

Again, the blood in her fingers runs cold, and she finds the air lessening in the room. She hasn't seen Jack in a week. Ever since Henley left, he's changed. He wouldn't stop staring at his phone, and Merritt talked about how whatever he must have been watching wasn't pleasant, and the mentalist suspected that it could have something to do with the sudden increase in their bank account one day, and how it suddenly dropped to a big fat $0 the next.

Jack got a ping on his phone one day, his face going grim as the screen lit up his dull eyes. He said he was going out...but he never came back. None of the other Horsemen saw him after that.

"Jack?! Where is he?! Is he okay?!" She suddenly became frantic, grasping for any news.

"He's fine, don't worry-! At least he should be fine. Listen, I need to tell you everything and I need to tell you quick. I don't have much time left. Have you ever heard of the game Nerve?"

What the hell?

"So, what you're trying to say is Jack has been getting us money not from stealing, but from competing on a phone app that can practically kill you and he's now gotten himself into bigger trouble from a mishap he had in Seattle?"

Daniel wasn't buying it one bit, his arms crossed over his suit jacket, pursing his lips. The Jack he knew wouldn't put other people's lives at risk just to earn a couple bucks. He knew the kid was desperate for money, but he couldn't have possibly been this desperate, right?

"Don't you see? That's how this girl Sydney, got my number. From Seattle." Logan runs her fingers through her hair frustratingly, "He forfeit the game after the incident, so they took all of our money and released our numbers to the public for his snitching. That's why we didn't have any money last week. Because whoever is controlling the games was able to control Jack's life despite how good he was at hiding it."

"So, this Nerve game not only has all of Jack's information, but ours, too?" Merritt asks, his voice gruff as he runs his hand over his face, feeling sick upon thinking of his brother and the time he stole everything Merritt had.
