Chapter 31

Everyone wasn't standing in a crowd now. They were wandering around the room.

Zeus smiled, relieved to see Piper and Aphrodite back.

'That took you time. But no worries, Jason come along.'

Jason followed Zeus, feeling very nervous. He and his dad had not talked much in private, and he doubted that he would get used to it.

Zeus stopped and turned around.

'Jason Grace!' He exclaimed.

'Er- yes?'

'You have been very brave. A true son, I must say. I am very proud of you.'

'Thanks.'

'I think you deserve a reward.'

'I do?'

'Yes, earlier I was thinking immortality. But I thought that you would turn down the offer, too. So I came up with another idea.'

'What is it?' Jason was nervous now.

'Remember the coin that was destroyed by Enceladus during your fight with him on Mount Diablo?'

'Um. No- not really.'

'Okay then,' Zeus was still not disheartened. 'Well, that coin is actually extremely valuable. It is made up of imperial gold. It turns into a golden sword on heads and a golden javelin on tails when flipped. The coin has the word 'Ivlivs' on it, which is Latin for Julius.'

Jason was still confused. 'That is great to know, but what have I got to do with this?'

'Ah' Zeus said. He reached into the pocket of his robes and took out a coin. It was gold, but otherwise looked pretty normal.

'Here' Zeus said handing the coin to Jason. It was exactly like Zeus had described.

'Flip it.' Zeus said. Jason flipped the coin and suddenly it turned into a golden sword.

'Careful.' Zeus said

'It is awesome, dad. Thanks.' Jason wasn't sure if he should hug his dad right now, but Zeus grabbed him and hugged him himself.

'What do I do to turn it back into a coin?'

'Just pocket it. It will change itself.''

'Wow. That is really cool!'

'Yeah.' Zeus grinned. 'It is.'

'So...son.' Zeus was clearly in the mood to talk. 'How is Piper?'

'Well, you just saw her. She is fine.'

'No no. You know what I mean.'

'I do?'

'You and Piper... how is that?'

'Oh. That.' Jason blushed. 'Yeah, it's pretty good.'

'She is a wonderful girl, son. Keep her safe and never break her heart.'

'Well, you're one to talk!' Jason said angrily.

'Son, I must tell you this. I have been in love with a lot of different women, but at the end of the day, the only one who still loves me remains Hera.'

'Really?'

'Yes.' Zeus said smiling.

'Well, I never would have had any intention of hurting Piper. I love her.'

Zeus chuckled. 'You really are way more mature than me!'
