We all settled back down in my room with Meredith dressed and thankfully we found her suit case in the ashes. Meredith sat down in a spinny chair with her cup of tea and stared at Volta. "So, how long have you two been together?" Meredith asked, "Oh, for about 5 or 6 months now." Volta said with a smile. "Mh, I see." Meredith responded smirking.

I sense tension between the two. "Meredith, so how are things in Elyssia?" I said, changing the subject. She quickly turned to me and her face brightened up. "Oh! It's wonderful-er well...compared to this city, it looks like crap, but I like it!" Well this city makes everywhere else look like crap in general...I mean this place used to be Paris! The Leaning Tower of Pisa is leaning at 45 degrees! I don't know what that has to do with Paris, but it was a piece of trivia I had to say since it came to Europe's famous structures.

"Hmm, I see. Well Elyssia is a steampunk planet, so of course it'll have its differences. Also, I want to know more about the mechanic's eyes." Meredith then blinked and stared at me as if I was living under a rock. Well, I technically was to her since I was raised here...can't say born here since now I know I was born on Elyssia.

"Okay well I can't necessarily say 'are you living under a rock' since you were raised here...but I'd be more than glad to." she said slouching back in the chair. "It'll kill some time before the house system is finished detoxing everything in the garage." I said as I pulled Volta to me and held her close to me. I saw Meredith rolled her eyes a bit then quickly fixed her attitude. I saw that you know...

The mechanic's eyes, manufactured by R. Keats. It was just an experiment Mr. Keats had done on himself, then became genetically attached to him. This was one of the main keys to creating this mechanical society. Mainly people who have red eyes are from Elyssia since they were born to be workers. There were benefits to the mechanic's eyes as well. They can see better, they're not as sensitive as the normal human eye, and they can withstand the stuff in the factories. This was the time of the new breed of people who were meant to be technicians and mechanics. People who will understand and master the usage of advanced steam mechanics!

"Nice...you sounded like one of those advertisement people on TV." I said snickering. "Though everything's starting to make sense now...do you know what happened last to our parents?" Meredith sipped her tea and took a deep breath and shook her head. "No...well father went missing, mother died after giving birth to you." "Oh...I see. So that wasn't a bluff from the log book." I responded quietly. No hope in seeing my real parents then...sadness started to fill my eyes.

I turned away and sniffled, trying not to let anyone see me cry. Volta held me from behind then wiped the tears away from me and kissed my cheek. "It's okay..." she consoled me. I turn back around wiping my eyes more. "So we can tell if people are mechanics like us if they have these red eyes?" I asked Meredith. "Yes. Unfortunately, we are the only ones who have the mechanic's eyes. The rest are on Elyssia." she answered.

The bronze screen came down interrupting our conversation. "Kinetta, detoxing the garage has been complete and is now safe for humans to breathe oxygen in there. Is there anything else you'd like for me to do?" the house system asked me. "I'd like to order the same parts I have ordered in the past for my ship. Oh and also send me a biography about R. Keats please." I requested. "Requests accepted. I will do so, Kinetta." The screen went into a loading screen.

"Well, that's taken care of now! We will just wait now..." I said, folding my hands together. "Now that you've asked me questions, how about I ask you some questions? I'd like to know what has been going on with my little brother!" Meredith asked playfully. Oh great...I saw that coming. "Well why don't we all take a stroll through the city and give you a little tour, my sister?" I said. She nodded and happily jumped up. Sheesh, it's like taking a dog out for a walk!
