As soon as Lapis leaves, Peridot sinks through the hole in the float into the water. Steven looks down at the pool. Bubbles pop up and then Peridot break the surface. Her hands, clenched into fists.
Her hair is still the in the same shape. Her attitude, as frustrated as ever. She gasps for breath as she storms into the barn. Storm clouds start to gather as Steven follows Peridot inside. Peridot's cheeks are red.
She stomps the floor and groans. She fumes into into her recorder. "Gah! Why isn't anything working? We gave her a nice card." Steven speaks up as Peridot paces around the room.
He sits down and thinks about the situation. "Yeah, and we even gave her a pool." "A pool! What a cloddy idea. Of course she wouldn't like that! There's nothing, nothing, nothing!" Steven melodically refutes Peridot's sentence.
"There has to be something... something, something..." Steven thinks of something else. "Maybe... instead of something she likes., give her something you like. A piece of you!" Steven spreads his arms.
Peridot thinks about the idea. She takes it since she couldn't think of any other option. "Uh...okay? How about..." She shrugs. "My Camp Pining Hearts DVD?" Steven judges that pick. "Which season?"
Peridot shrugs again. "5...?" Steven immediately refutes the idea. "Trash." Peridot agrees. "I know!" Peridot falls backwards onto the floor, groaning. Peridot frustration continues to grow as she speaks into her recorder.
"Log date...whatever, Facet... whatever!" She huffs. "Whatever! Clearly, there's nothing important enough for me to give to Lazuli!" She softens her tone as she looks at the recorder.
"At least I have you, tape recorder." Peridot looks at her tape recorder in realization. She gets up, excited. "Wait a minute! That's it!" "What is?" "The tape recorder! What else could it be?"
"Peridot, are you really sure about this?" "Yes, I most definitely am." She looks over at Lapis sitting on the silo nearby. "Lazuli, I hope you can finally forgive me with this." Steven takes the tape recorder.
He runs over to the materials. "Okay. I'm going to need wrapping paper and a ribbon." "Ooh! Let's make it blue for Lazuli!" They get to work. Peridot finds some wrapping paper as Steven finds a blue ribbon nearby.
Once they get all of their required materials together, they put them on the floor along with the recorder. "Okay." Steven takes the recorder and wraps it up with the wrapping paper. He then gets the ribbon.
He folds the ribbon and attaches it to the box. "And...done." He looks over at Peridot. "Ready?" She takes a deep breath. "Yes." "Let's go." They walk out of the barn and towards the silo once more.
Peridot starts to get nervous. "Steven, what if this doesn't work?" "Don't worry. A gift such as this is guaranteed to work...I think. Just put put your best foot forward and be sure to smile. "Uh...okay."
Steven and Peridot reach the silo. "Lap-" Steven's call is immediately interrupted by Lapis swooping down towards them. She lands and looks up at them with a hidden rage. "What do you want?"
Lapis's hands become fists as she stares down at Peridot, who is trying to smile. "Uh...I have a gift for you and...well. Ta-dah!" Steven makes a dramatic, emphasizing pose towards Peridot.
Peridot holds out the gift with both hands. Her smile quivers a bit, but it stays tact. Peridot inches forward towards Lapis. She points to the gift. "See, the ribbon is even blue!" She winks and point at Lapis.
"I got yo number!" Peridot continues to present the gift as Lapis continues to silently and monotonously stare at her. Peridot's grin falters and she darts an uncertain side-wards glance to Steven. Steven shrugs in response.
Peridot continues with uneasiness. "Uh, here, I'll unwrap it for you!" She explains the contents of the gift. "When I was stuck here, Steven gave me this tape recorder as a gift and I didn't really, get it at first."
Peridot easily rips the top half of wrapping off. She takes the recorder out. "But it made me feel better. Just to talk about the weird stuff that was happening. It'll help you too!" Steven smiles at Peridot as she holds out the recorder to Lapis.
Lapis takes the recorder by the top without changing her expression. No comment either. Peridot gets even more nervous. "You-umm...press the button to record...and then you talk into it!"
Both Steven and Peridot smile expectantly at Lapis. Lapis glances down at the recorder briefly. She then presses the red record button. She speaks into it with anger. "I don't want your garbage."
Lapis raises her hand holding the recorder. She easily crushes it and drops it. Steven stares in horror and shock while Peridot stares at her wrecked recorder, flinching without blinking as it hits the ground and the tape inside it pops out.
Peridot has had enough. She finally snaps at Lapis. "NNGUH! WHAT WERE YOU TRAPPED IN A TAPE RECORDER TOO?!" Lapis looks at Peridot with rage. Peridot rubs her gem on her forehead.
"Look, I get it, you know. You're confused! You can never go back to Homeworld." She gestures the field around them. "This place, doesn't exactly feel like home yet. You're alone! No one could possibly know what that feels like!"
Lapis narrows her eyes and glares as Peridot sarcastically emphasizes her sentence. "Oh wait, I do! We're the same! Except..." She ends her outbursts. "You don't have to be alone."
Peridot regains her composure, and looks at Lapis, who is still glaring at her, unconvinced, looking away with the same expression. "So tell me then, what you want from me? And whatever that is...I'll do it.
Lapis scowl angrily as she snarls. "I want you...TO LEAVE!" Peridot is visibly hurt by the comment. She regains her determined look. "Okay." Peridot complies and walks away into the hills as Lapis folds her arms.
