Steven Universe: In Too Deep

Humans Versus Rubies

Steven nods. "Okay. Let's put on these uniforms and-" The Gems change transform their clothes into baseball uniforms. "Oh. Never mind. Let's do this." Steven and the others walk out of the barn.

The rubies notice them and they stare as the Gems approach them. Doc snaps his fingers. "Rubies, one row, single file." They all line up with Doc in front. He notices Ruby. "Hey! Over here."

Ruby walks over to the rubies row and lines up next to Doc. Steven and everyone else line up with him in a row of their own. They all face each other as Steven introduces his team. "We're the humans. Steven!"

Pearl. "Earl!" Amethyst. "Amy!" Lapis.
"Bob." And Sapphire, blushing. "And Sophie." Ruby stares at Sapphire as she blushes and sweats. Doc nods. "Understood. Our team is the Rubies. Consisting of: Ruby!"

Ruby, sweating "Ruby!" Navy. "Ruby!" Army. "Ruby!" Eyeball in his dark tone of voice. "Ruby!" And Leggy. "And Ruby!" Steven starts to explain the rules.

"Here's the rules of the game. We take turns throwing the ball at each other. The batter tries to hit the ball with the bat, and then they run around the bases. Whoever gets the most runs wins. Here, let me show you."

Steven motions for Ruby and Amethyst to come over. Steven instructs his team. "Ame-Amy, you will be our umpire. Ruby, you will be the batter. And I will stand on this pod here as our team's pitcher."

Steven gets onto the pod and waits for Ruby and Amethyst to get ready. Amethyst sits down and holds her glove out. "Sa-Sophie, you will be on third base. Bob, second base. And P-Earl, third base.

Ruby puts on a blue, baseball cap and readies her bat. She winks and Steven winks back. He throws the ball as he continues to explain the rules. "You get three tries to hit the ball."

Ruby swings too early to miss on purpose. "If you miss..." Amethyst catches the ball. "Striiiike one!" Army quckly gets up from his team's bench in anger. "What?!" The process repeats. "Striiike two!"

One more time. "Strike three!" "Three strikes, and you're out!" Ruby acts playfully. "Oh, darn." She chuckles and looks at Sapphire. "Guess I'm out." Sapphire waves as she blushes.

Suddenly, Army punches Ruby in the back. "You swung too slow!" Ruby runs away in fear as Army picks up the bat that Ruby dropped. "You do it like this." Amethyst and Steven are taken aback by the sudden action.

Steven starts to sweat as he throws the ball with a weak arm. Army hits it right on target with an extreme force of anger. The ball flies across the field. Steven gapes as Army starts running around the bases.

Lapis looks up as the ball flies over her head and out of sight. She holds up her baseball mitt in a delayed attempt to catch the ball. Army finally stops on home base, smiling in truimph.

Steven presses his baseball mitt against his cheek in disbelief. "And...that's called a homerun." He watches as Army walks away to give Navy a turn.
