Chapter Six
"Kitty Kat," Dad's voice cooed from Kat's doorway to her room. "You okay? You have to get up. Big day ahead of us."
"Wahouwanerwaaa," Kat moaned into her pillow.
Dad sighed, and muttered to himself, "I didn't want to have to do this." He grabbed Kat by her legs, buried underneath her blanket, and dragged her onto the cold carpeted floor.
"If you don't get up, I'll get Rey to sit on you!" he threatened. At this, Kat's head instantly shot up.
With a glare that could kill, she growled, "You wouldn't dare." To prove his point, Dad called out his son's name. Though his booming voice shook the house, the hibernating Rey wasn't fazed the tiniest bit. Kat tackled her dad to the ground, jumped right back up, and sprinted out of the room.
As Kat sprinted past her zombie of a brother, he asked, "Why was Dad calling my name?"
"Oh, no reason!" she called over her shoulder and leaped down the stairs.
Her slippery socks made her slide across the wooden kitchen floor right into the kitchen table. Kat tumbled over the the top, thankfully clear of anything, and face-planted onto the floor on the other side of the table.
"Um," Rey's voice said from the base of the staircase.
"Speak of this," Kat growled into the dusty wood. "And I will rip you to shreds."
"I'm telling everyone!" With a smirk, Kat's little brother sprinted out the front door. She could faintly hear his crazed, maniacal laughter in the distance. Still tired, Kat lied on the floor for hours. Surprisingly, no one had bothered her. Until, of course, Rey came back.
"Kitty Kat!" he sang mockingly. "You have visitors! I don't know why they would want to see you, though."
"Tewemogawy," Kat mumbled into the floorboards.
A black, steel-toed boot connected with Kat's stomach, knocking the wind out of her and pushing her across the cold floor. Coughing for air, she glared up at the blurry face staring right back at her. She grabbed the person's ankle before they could turn and walk away.
"Who do you think you are?" she sputtered. The blurry face cracked into a grin and the person slowly crouched down to Kat's level. Though their face was clear, Kat did not recognize them at all.
"Just sending a quick message," they said through gritted teeth.
From the front door, Rey asked, "Who are you?"
The person stood saying, "A friend."
They walked out the door held open by Rey. The door clicked close and Rey's footsteps were heard going up the stairs. Still coughing, Kat called to him, "Yeah, thanks for the help, Rey!"

"Get up, Kat."
"Buradunwarmager," she said into the wooden floor again. She twisted her head to look up at her dad, then thumped her forehead back onto the ground.
