A/N : the night Cy passed out.

"I can't believe Thomas didn't let us go with Cy." Nick repeated for the fortieth time. He sounded more frustrated each time he said it.

Nick was slumped down on a park bench as he ruffled a hand through his wavy hair while Jen sat crisscrossed on the cobblestone sidewalk in front of him, fiddling with dandelions. It was grey and foggy from the thick clouds overhead as only few people walked the paths of the park in the chill night.

"You need to stop complaining about it. You like practically begged Thomas a hundred times if you could go with him." Jen tried not to sound too rude, or make it sound like she didn't care.

Jen looked up to him from the batch of yellow dandelions that huddled in her hand. "You know the exact reason why we couldn't go. Besides it wouldn't have made a difference how many times you would've asked him if you could." She tossed the flowers to the side in frustration, letting them to be swept in the wind. "But I...gosh I should've been awake with her all night. Helped her, at least." She bit her lower lip. "Then what's worse I had to wake up next to you," she flung an arm in Nick's direction, without making eye-contact, and scowled in a teasing way.

Nick rolled his eyes.

"And I don't even know where Thomas took her." Jen groaned and placed her elbows on her knees and rested her chin in her hands.

"I think I overheard Thomas and Skylar say a name like 'Leona' or 'Leanna'," he said looking proud for knowing information that Jen didn't. "Something like that." He shrugged as his glare washed over Jen's head, forgetting she made fun of him a couple seconds ago.

Jen groaned, "I'm just really worried. You know how bad these episodes of hers are getting. They're getting worse, you know I-I thought," she stammered, "I thought we would have more time." Crossing her arms over her chest she scowled under her breath.

"What do you expect? She's getting closer to eighteen. She's going to get everything all at once and it's going to Thomas's fault." Nick sighed.

Jen pressed her eyebrows together, annoyed. "You know the damn reason why he couldn't let her know earlier. She would have been in danger from every species that knew about her." She crossed her arms.

"I know but he should have at least explained something so she won't be scared when she does find out," he groaned.

"You should be worrying alot more than the eye rolls you're giving." Jen somewhat shouted, her voice angry. She was frustrated about how little Nick showed expression of how worried he was for Cy. She pushed her black and red hair out of her face before she pushed herself up off the rocky path. "Aren't you even a little scared?" She pointed a finger at him, "We've all been best friends for like, life and you don't seem to be worrying at all-"

Nick shot up from the bench so fast Jen saw it as a blur in the dim night. He looked really pissed off, and Nick came right to Jen's face. "DON'T YOU DARE SAY I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT HER!" He shouted and Jen flinched under his touch, she stared at his shifting green eyes as he growled under his breath. He lowered his voice to a whisper when he heard his voice echo through the night like a boom.

"I am worried about her, okay. I wanted to be there but I fell asleep." His voice lowered and his eyes went back to their dark blue color, filling sadness and light tears. "And I curse myself for it."

He let go of Jen, turning away looking regretful, tense and tired after he saw Jen flinch. "Jen. I..." he let out a breath, "I am sorry."

Jen relaxed and threw a hug over Nick's shoulders and he staggered back, surprised. He hesitated for a moment before he brought his arms around Jen closing her in on his body.

"Look I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that. I'm just scared that Cy won't be okay," Jen curdled her head into Nick's warm neck and breathed him in. "We all have been though a lot and I know I'm not making it any better for you but this is just a lot for me." A tear fell out her eye and it kissed Nick's shoulder.

"Jen no, it's my fault. I already know what you've been through." Jen was the first to pull away. As Nick looked into Jen's gleaming eyes he flushed and tore his hands out from around her waist.

Jen was flushed and wide-eyed, "What? How do you-"

"About us, this life that were in and everything that has happened between us." Nick looked at her and flushed at his words, "I mean about us-you, me and Cy," he took a breath. "All that has happened between us, the secrets we were told-to hide, to keep-the pain that we all share towards each other and the...love towards each other too. Like we're all like brother and sister, and I would hate for anything else bad to happen to us again."

Jen wide-eyed, drew out a breath, relived he didn't say something else, or more. Her mind ached at the thought of Nick-or Cy-finding out her real truth and her heart hurt at the thought of anyone of them getting lost or hurt. It brought some tears to Jen's eyes as she thought of Cy. Her heart sank and she tore her gaze away from Nick's eyes. "Yeah. I would hate for anyone to get in the middle of our relationship too," she said it as if it was the straight forward truth and there was no denying it. "I just wish I had more to offer to both of you guys."

Nick looked at Jen, shocked at what she said and he stood hesitant before reaching a hand forward and brushed a strand of hair out of Jen's face. "You have more than enough to offer."

Jen relocked her eyes with Nick. His dark blue eyes shifted in the gleam of the cloud covered rising sun, they had talked all night and sat there in the park thinking and discussing about Cy.

After Cy screamed, Thomas and Skylar had burst in the room and had insisted that they take her elsewhere to get her help. Nick had begged twice as much the amount as Jen did to go with them-with Cy. But when Thomas stated no the twentieth time, Nick and Jen decided to walk to the park. And they remained there overnight. Worried.

Nick's hair kissed his forehead as it swayed with the cool breeze of November. Jen always thought Nick was good looking and that it was hard to believe that most girls didn't look at him with googly eyes or giggle over his body as he walked past them. Of course Jen didn't do it because he was like her brother, but she had once or twice gawked over him.

Whipping her head to the side she glared down the cobblestone path that lead farther down into the park to keep her mind off Nick before she blushed. It wasn't what she wanted, she wanted to believe that she'd never fall in love, but that all changed-

"Look!" Nick's finger jolted, pointing behind Jen, who whipped her head around. Cutting through the middle of the parks' field was Thomas and Cy.

"It's them." Thomas and Cy looked happy as they passed the few people walking and chatting in the waking light of the sun in the horizon. Thomas and Cy looked like they were having a casual conversation but Thomas's eye told a different story-one of sadness, guilt and secrecy.

"They're okay," he dropped his hand down. "Oh thank the angel." He sounded relieved, surprised, and exited all at once as Thomas approached them with Cy at his side.

Thomas and Cy closed in on Nick and Jen, and both of them had to refrain themselves from running after her and swooping her up in their arms.

"Jen!" Cy called. "Nick!"
