Friends Are Awesome, Even If They're An Annoying Pegasus
I whirled around. "Annabeth, do you remember me?"
She sighed, "No, I do not remember you. I have never seen you before. Why do you keep asking?"
"No reason . . . You just said something that reminded me of an old friend." Think of a time when you were alone. No one was there to keep you company, and no one understood what you were really going through. You couldn't talk to anyone.
Multiply that feeling by about one hundred. That's how I felt.
Annabeth just shook her head and walked away, leaving me alone. I pocketed Riptide and ran into the woods so I could scream and let all of my anger out.
I reached the woods and the darkness consumed me. I hacked at anything in my path, red filling my vision. It was so hard to look at the one you love, knowing that they didn't know they loved you.
I sliced any monster, ran past any nymph or dryad in my path, I just kept running until my lungs were about to collapse and my muscles felt like jelly. I screamed with anger at Pontus, for ruining my life.
In the eerie darkness, I made a vow. I would find Chaos and make him restore their memories. No matter what the cost. Once that was done, I would find Pontus. I would make him pay. Him and anyone he worked for.
"I swear to the River Styx Chaos, I will do anything if you give them their memories back! And I swear on the River Styx, I will find you Pontus. And I will make you pay." Thunder rumbled loudly in response to my two promises.
With that off my chest, I made my way back to camp. The campers had surely heard the destruction I caused. Hopefully they hadn't heard what I said.
When I finally burst through the trees, I saw Chiron busting Conner and Travis Stoll for trying to prank someone, and for being out after curfew. I knew that him ignoring me was his way of letting me have time to myself and not get in trouble for breaking curfew. I silently thanked him.
Time for demigod dreams. Yipee.
My dream that night was unusual, as usual.
It started out showing an old bearded man who was almost glowing with power. I immediately knew it was Chaos. The Void. The creator of all.
"'Anything,' you say? I'm waiting." Then it faded out and changed.
Pontus was sitting in a decked out version of my father's throne. But it was also evil looking. Shadows covered the walls and floor. Voices whispering came from nowhere. The only light came from the bright armor he wore.
"Figured out why yet, little demigod?" He taunted. I wanted to charge at him and beat him up, but I couldn't move. When I looked down I saw the broken, bloodied, limp form of Blackjack. I wanted to crouch down and see what was wrong, but I still couldn't move.
"Ironic, isn't it? The Protector of all Pegasi, killing one." He laughed. "More deaths will come."
That's when I woke up screaming for Blackjack.
"Oh, hey Percy. I guess you're awake." Grover pushed off from the fountain and walked over to me. "Bad dream?"
I just nodded, still recovering from the horror. "Just wanted to let you know, Athena has a permanent alliance with you. Unless you get the flag and they have the other one. Ares is on the other team. Maybe humiliating Clarisse tonight will cheer you up!" Grover tried to make me feel better but failed.
"I need to see Blackjack. Something tells me he still remembers me." I jumped out of bed, yanked on jeans and a Camp Half-Blood t-shirt, and ran to the stables.
