I Finally Realize How Annoying I Can Be
It was time. We had assembled in the lounge and were waiting for Chaos. Of course, we could've left whenever we wanted, but none of us wanted to. Silena, Nancy, Beckendorf, Zoë, Luke, Bianca, and Daedalus planned to reveal themselves right away. I wore a hood. There would be less questions that way.
Chaos finally arrived. "Are you ready." Heads bobbed around the room. I did nothing. "Now Percy, I know you would not like to show yourself." A glow appeared around my head. "There. Your hood can only be taken off by you now."
"Thank you." I patted my hood and had Luke try to take it off, just in case. It didn't budge.
Chaos clapped his hands together and a swirling gray portal appeared. "Next stop, Olympus."
One by one we stepped into the portal. It went in order of rank. Chaos, me, Luke, Daedalus, Zoë, Beckendorf, Bianca, Silena, and Nancy.
I closed my eyes and felt the familiar coldness of traveling through Chaos' portals. The light burned against my eyelids.
The cold faded and I opened my eyes to see the familiar throne room of Olympus. Chaos and I walked into the sight of the gods while the rest of the team hid in the shadows. We planned to have them reveal themselves after I humiliated the gods.
Zeus stood up and his master bolt appeared in his hand. "Who are you? How did you get in here?"
"Pardon me Zeus, but is that how you would greet Chaos? The creator of this world?" Chaos had a smug smile on.
Gasps echoed around the room. Every god jumped down from their throne and bowed low. I snickered quietly. "No need, please rise." Chaos ordered. The gods sat back on their thrones.
"Creator, may I ask. Who is that next to you?" Athena pointed to me.
"First in command of Chaos' team. Don't mess with me." I scowled. Phase 1 complete. With my new enhanced hearing I heard Ares scoff. Phase 2 complete.
"I bet I could beat you. What do you say? Me against you, one on one. I win, you bow and I turn you into a prairie dog for a bit." Ares laughed, thinking I would say no.
"All right. And if I win?"
His smile faded. He leaned forward in his throne. "Then you fight every single one of us at the same time." Again, he thought I would back down. Instead, I conjured up a fighting circle. I pulled Riptide from my pocket and uncapped it, manipulating the mist so that no one would recognize it. I tapped my newly repaired watch, the one Tyson gave me, and the shield sprang open.
Ares grinned and hopped from his throne. He pulled out his own sword and swung it around. We entered the circle while the gods watched.
"If I win that fight?" I swung my sword in a circle.
"You get to claim that you beat the gods. But that won't happen."
"Once one draws blood, the fight is over. Swear on the Styx." Zeus commanded, sounding bored. Ares challenging people to fights within seconds of meeting them was nothing new. We both swore.
Ares made the first move. He swung his sword at my shoulder. I ducked and was at his back in a second. I returned the favor by jabbing at his shoulder.
He whirled around and caught my blade on his. He pushed back and tried to make me lose my balance. I let him push me over and performed a backwards somersault on the ground, recovering on my feet.
I won't bore you with the details. We continued like that, slashing, hacking, dodging. I was just getting started and I could tell Ares was getting frustrated. That ended soon.
