Chaos Makes A Really Bad Pun
I didn't know how much my life would be changing from that day on.
I opened my eyes to find a boy with blonde hair and brown eyes looking down at me. Besides the color change, he and I were identical. I immediately knew then that this was the Percy Jackson that everyone had been talking about.
"I said, what are you doing?" He repeated, pointing at me.
I sat up, "I was sleeping. Is that allowed?" I retorted, somehow already annoyed. I finally meet the person who has apparently replaced me, and based on the two sentences he has said to me, he doesn't seem anything like me.
He sighed, "I meant, what are you doing in my bunk?"
I grinned and folded my arms, deciding to have some fun with this, "sleeping in my bunk."
"Do you think you're funny? I'm Percy Jackson, Savior of Olympus."
"No, you're a fake Pontus created to make my life miserable. I'm the real Percy Jackson," I said, standing up and confronting my look alike.
"Let's settle this in a fight. Only the real Percy Jackson can win." He said, and I was surprised at how quickly he resorted to violence. He took out Riptide, expecting me to be surprised by it's pen form. I only laughed and revealed my weapon.
His eyes widened when he saw that I had Riptide too, but he quickly recovered. We both walked outside toward the arena, every camper watching us. They seemed to sense that something was about to happen. The conch horn sounded, signaling breakfast, but I didn't care. In this one instance, food wasn't important.
We reached the arena to find campers piling into the bleachers. Somehow they had heard we would fight and wanted to watch (I didn't question how, but guessed that the Stolls were a key part of it). Even Chiron came and didn't say anything about us all missing breakfast. He locked eyes with me, silently begging me to walk away and keep from raising more questions. But my clone's actions had already infuriated me, and I ignored him.
I saw Annabeth in the bleachers, watching with adoration. But she wasn't looking at me. She was watching my wannabe.
I shrugged it off and got ready to fight, spinning Riptide in my hand a few times. Both of us only had our swords. No shields or helmets. Just a good old-fashioned sword fight.
He made the first move. He lunged and struck at me, trying to catch me off guard, but I anticipated it and dodged. He turned and swung at the same time. I ducked under his sword and spun around. I realized he was all for offense, no defense. I could easily use that to my advantage.
As he lunged, struck, and slashed, I dodged, parried and rolled, looking for an opening. As I was getting up from a roll I noticed his teeth gritted and realized he was getting annoyed. I smiled wider.
As much as I was enjoying making him mad, I needed to start looking for Chaos. Plus, Chiron looked like he was about to step in.
I performed a back flip into the air and landed 2 yards away from him. I heard him gasp in surprise, but I just grinned and said, "I've got the same moves as you, just better."
With some time to do something other than block, I focused on the water cooler, and after a moment, the top popped off and a fountain of water gushed out. He smiled, knowing he could control the water too. I crafted a watery trident while he formed a spear. He thought we would fight with these, but I had other plans.
While keeping my trident and holding the rest of the water in the air, I watched him. He started to come at me. I threw the trident, which he easily dodged like I thought he would, and he was standing right under the ball of water I had made. During the split second in which he was preparing to throw his spear, I let go of the water, causing it to drop on him. Since he was focused on his spear, he didn't have enough time to keep the water away.
The water swallowed him, and I mentally fought him as he tried to push it away. I ran over to him and dodged the badly aimed spear he threw, finally releasing the water. When he recovered I was standing above him, the tip of my sword resting over the small of his back.
I heard Annabeth's quiet gasp, knowing that that being his mortal spot, I could kill him with one stroke of my sword. He froze and sighed in defeat. I lifted my sword and walked away, knowing I had won. I saw the hint of a smile on Chiron's, but it was quickly replaced by a look of horror.
I felt the wind move and quickly turned around, raising Riptide. A metal sword clanged against it. I looked up and saw my "twin" standing there, his sword against mine. I realized that if I hadn't blocked his sword, he would have hit my mortal spot and killed me.
I shook my head in disgust and pushed him away. While he was still in shock of being beaten and that I had managed to block his almost-kill swipe, I gathered the water and directed it at him in order to walk away without looking over my shoulder.
With him occupied, I walked to the lake and jumped in, the coolness of the water soothing me. An hour must have passed when I looked up and saw Chiron and Grover. With an underwater sigh, I kicked up to the surface and emerged completely dry.
"Are you all right, Percy?" Chiron asked. I just nodded, not trusting myself to speak.
Grover broke the ice. "Hey, that fight was awesome, Perce. I saw the whole thing. That was great how you tricked him with the trident and then you dumped the water on him." Grover rambled on and on about how I kicked his butt while Chiron just smiled sadly and trotted off.
Finally, I couldn't stand it. "Grover, thanks and all, but, I need to find Chaos. It's been three days, and I want my old life back, and I need Chaos to do that. I haven't even started to figure out how to find him, and unless you're gonna help, let me be for a bit."
Grover understood immediately and dropped the subject. "Let's go see Blackjack. Loosen up a bit before we get serious." Grover steered me towards the stables and I gave in. I needed to see my friend.
Yo boss, I heard about the fight with the guy that came here a while ago. Nice job kicking his butt!
I smiled, Blackjack already having lifted my spirits. "Yeah, it was pretty cool." I vaguely noticed that Grover left me alone with Blackjack.
Have you found Chaos yet? Blackjack whinnied.
"Not yet." I sighed.
Well, if you ever want a getaway, come find me and we can go for donuts. Blackjack pawed at the ground, hinting slightly about the donuts. I just patted his back and left to go to my cabin.
I felt stares everywhere I went and saw the fake me glaring at me while training. I rolled my eyes and continued to my cabin.
Once there, I slammed the door closed and yelled, "I want my old life back! This is chaos!"
"Actually, I am."
