Chapter 2 God Knows

    Shouting and loud clashing of metal rang throughout the forest. The five nekos entered a large clearing with a big and decent-looking house at the center. They had over half the forest to themselves and their closest neighbors lived in the meadows to the east and the hills to the west.  At the front of the house, two teens were sparring.

    "This rivalry ends here." a boy with violet hair and golden eyes said dramatically.

    "Bring it, assface!" his redheaded companion challenged, doing an equally dramatic hair flip. "But you of all people should know that a rivalry never ends!" He threw his kunai knives at his rival who summoned a shield to block it.

    "Well said, brother." the violet praised. "You fight well... for a bitch!"

    The redhead narrowed his dark blue eyes and summoned four knives in each hand, throwing them as soon as he saw an opening. The armoured niko dismissed his current armour and weaponry and summoned two twin blades, deflecting them in a swift movement. Once they touched the ground, the knives disappeared and he summoned eight more in their place.

    Shouting loud battle cries, the two boys charged at one another in a grand fury when... "Hey, guys!" Ushiko greeted.

    The twins froze mid-attack and simultaneously replied, "Hey, Ushiko!"

    "Who's winning?" Nateo asked. They looked at each other and casually lowered their weapons. "It's a draw."

    "That's cool."

    "Hey, Uncle Yukko!" the redhead called, running up to him.

    "Yes, Hachi?" There was a slight blush on the boy's cheeks.

    "Um..." Before he could say anything, a certain violet came along and began leaning on him. "So, what's up with Yoko?" The brunette appeared to have fallen asleep until murmured tiredly and gave them a lazy wave. "She's tired." her father mused.

    "Okay." he grinned at his brother and nudged him suggestively. Hachi glared at him and punched him in the gut. "Get off me!" he snapped angrily.

    "What?" he laughed, holding his stomach. "Was it something I said?!" The disgruntled teen didn't respond and went inside, slamming the door behind him.

    When she was sure that no one was paying any attention to her, Yoko attempted to siphon some of his energy. Yukko felt a sudden shift of energy and slowly reached up to her arm... The brunette then burst into laughter as he began tickling her. "Okay! Okay!" she cried, gently banging his back in a feeble attempt to make him stop. "I'm sorry! Just stop!!!"

    Seeing that she had learned her lesson, he set her down and gave her what he thought was enough energy to get herself to her room. "Go and get some rest." he told her. "And if I catch you trying to siphon someone's energy again..."

    "Yeah, yeah." Yoko replied tiredly. "I'll be... fine." She fell flat on her face. "Nevermind."

    "Hey, Kai." Nariko said as Yukko collected the worn out hybrid in the background. "Where's Lyric?"

    "Target practice."

    "Thanks!"

    "Uh-huh." Kai and Hachi are twins who have a tendency to constantly brawl. Hachi is a tiger-dog hybrid neko with a bit of tempered pride. He has red hair and dark, navy blue eyes and wears a white t-shirt and jeans. Kai is a wolf, dragon, and owl hybrid niko with violet hair and gold eyes. He wears a burgundee t-shirt, black leather jacket, and jeans.

    Ushiko followed Yukko inside while Nateo proceeded to spar with Kai. "Hey, there!" her uncle greeted.

    "Hey, Yu. Ushiko." a pretty brown-eyed blonde replied. Her stomach was large and round with children who were expected to arrive in a couple of weeks.
