Holding on to You

Once Dan had reassured Phil, he drove him home in a comfortable silence. The rain against the car's windows was the only soundtrack they needed. He drove up the empty driveway and switched the gear to park. He wasn't really sure what to say. He hadn't expected Phil to warm up to him so fast, but he was glad he did. Luckily, Phil saved them from an awkward silence.

"I had a lot of fun today."

Dan watched small droplets of rain water fall from Phil's ebony hair. He could only hope the boy didn't get sick.

"Me too."

"I'll see you at school tomorrow." Phil smiled. Dan smiled back and nodded.

Phil leaned in close to him and kissed his cheek.

"Bye Dan."

Before Dan could reply. Phil gave him one last look, then quickly ran through the rain and into his house.

Dan held his hand to his flushed cheek where he could feel the lingering touch of Phil's lips. He couldn't wait to go back to school.

Later that night Dan's text tone went off. He quickly lunged to check his phone in high hopes that Phil had texted him, but, much to his distaste, it was Cat.

(too lazy to do the picture thing again so I just wrote out the texts)

Cat: Phil won't shut up about you. He says you took him out on a date. Congrats! I assume it went well for you?

Dan: I guess it did, despite the rain.

Cat: What did you do? Where'd you take him? I need details!

Dan sighed, not really wanting to talk to her, but he knew he owed her for encouraging him to ask Phil out. Without Cat, he may have never gained the courage.

Dan: I took him on a picnic to the big tree in the grassy field by the barn

Cat: Woah hold up! Barn? You mean THE barn? As in the place you've killed his friends at?

Dan: yeah I know it's kind of fucked up, but it was the only place I could think of that we could have some privacy

Cat: Kind of? That is not classy at all Dan.

Dan: I know. Lay off.

Dan was beginning to get angry.

Cat: Fine. Oh by the way I forgot to tell you yesterday, I've got a person of interest for you.

Dan: Who?

Cat: A junior, his name is Stephen. He's been bullying Phil quite a bit lately in film class.

Dan gripped his phone harder.

Dan: Okay.

Cat: I was wondering if I could help you with this one. You promised to teach me how you do it.

Dan: Sure. Follow him, take some notes. Watch for any routine places he goes to, somewhere we could wait to catch him and get him alone.

Cat: Alright. I'm on it.

Dan's thoughts trailed back to Phil. Phil didn't tell him about any bullies. He was so concerned about everyone else, would he have ever told Dan? Whatever the reason, Dan knew this Stephen guy had to be disposed of.
