Dan dropped Cat off at her house, before driving home to get ready for the party. He quickly showered, straightened his hair, and threw on some nice clean clothes. He told his parents he was going to study at Phil's and probably wouldn't be back for a couple of hours.
He got to Phil's house around 7 and parked his car out front. He quickly checked his hair in the mirror and made sure nothing incriminating was lying around his car. When he found nothing, he jogged up the small stair path that led to Phil's front door. He rang the doorbell and ran his hands over the wrinkles forming in his button-up shirt. The door clicked open and Dan looked up to see Phil's, red-rimmed, blue eyes.
"Phil, what's wrong?" Dan asked with concern.
Phil's eyes widened and he threw his arms around Dan, clinging to him.
"Oh my...." *hiccup* "Dan..." *Hiccup* "I thought you were dead!"
Dan wrapped his arms around his crying boyfriend.
"Dead? Why would you think that?" Dan asked, his face scrunched in a mixture of confusion and satisfaction.
"I was watching the news right now with my parents..." *hiccup* "It said a student from our school had been abducted from their home. I was just about to call you. I was so scared I'd lost you." Phil hugged Dan tighter, he almost couldn't breathe, but he liked it anyways.
"Shh. I'm fine, I'm right here." Dan rubbed his hand up and down Phil's back until his sobbing stopped and he calmed down. He pulled away and ran his fingers through Phil's fringe, tucking it to the side out of his eyes.
"It's always people I know. If it wasn't you, who could it have been?" Phil whispered.
"I heard it was someone named Stephen, do you know anyone with that name?" Dan asked softly.
Phil's eyes widened.
"Y-yeah. Stephen was in my film class. We never talked." Phil looked down at his hands which were now holding Dan's. He was afraid, if he let go, Dan would disappear.
"I'm sorry." Dan said, not really feeling sorry because he knew Stephen was nothing but a bully to Phil.
Phil shook his head and gave him a small smile.
"No. It's fine. I'm sorry for his family and friends, but I didn't really know him anyways. It's just weird...usually it's people I know and like..." Phil trailed off in thought.
"Maybe whoever is doing this is kidnapping at random. This is a small town. It could be a coincidence you knew all of those people," Dan tried to suggest.
Phil shrugged, "I'm just happy you're safe."
Dan rubbed his thumbs over the backs of Phil's hands. "I told you, Phil, I'm not going anywhere."
"Just promise me you'll lock your house doors and windows and you'll never walk out alone at night."
Dan smiled and kissed Phil's cheek.
"I promise." Dan pulled away and looked down to see Phil was very nicely dressed in a button up plaid shirt and black skinny jeans. He bit his lip as his eyes trailed back up.
"Do you still want to go to the party tonight?" Dan asked.
Phil shook his head. "Can't. My parents aren't letting me leave the house tonight, with a kidnapper on the loose."
"That's probably best." Dan nodded, a little sad that he couldn't spend more time with Phil tonight.
"If you're parents are okay with it...I'd feel a lot better if you stayed the night."
