The doors swung open. In came Alya, in a short, frilly red dress, gold lace twirling down around her hips. Her hair was in voluminous but neat curls, and she wore no glasses. At her side was Marinette, wearing an elegant and long, lime green dress, with silver jems across her chest, her hair pulled up into a bun.
Nino and Adrien were already inside, and spotted the girls. Nino waved them over and smirked at Adrien's frozen face, red with blush.
"Scared?" he teased?
Adrien shook off whatever trance overtook him. "Scared? Please, Nino. I'm a model, I'm not afraid of dates." He choked on the last word, even though he was convinced he had full confidence.
"Well, you seem pretty awe-struck."
Adrien turned his attention back to Marinette. He'd never seen it in her, but she really was... beautiful.
No, he couldn't think that. He must stay loyal to Ladybug. He didn't think she was beautiful.
Or maybe he did? Because something was poking the back of his head, telling him that he's got to make a move.
Marinette was just a few feet away from the table when she stopped walking. She wore the same expression as Adrien.
Oh my gosh, he's wearing a suit. Oh my gosh, he's wearing a suit. Oh my gosh he's wearing a suit. He looks so amazing in a suit. He looks so amazing always. Oh my gosh, he's wearing a suit.
Alya nudged her elbow into Marinette's side, then raised an eyebrow at Nino. They were most definitely thinking the same thing.
Alya swung an arm casually over Nino's shoulders. "Hey," she said to him.
"Welcome, you're late."
"We're on time. You're early. Marinette," she prodded. "Say hi to your date."
Marinette's eyes flew even wider than they were before, as if for the first time realizing that Adrien was her date. Actually, it probably was the first time.
She turned back to him and bared her teeth. Alya face palmed.
"Hi, Marinette," he said. He offered a hand and tugged her around the table and into the seat next to him.
They just sat in silence, nervousness on their faces, hands in their laps, sneaking glances at each other, while Alya got photos of the awkward moment, and Nino laughed his head off.
After a while of Alya shamelessly stuffing her mouth with nachos, Adrien stood from his chair, and stuttered to Marinette, "I'm gonna get some snacks for us."
"Coming with you, bro," Alya called after him. "I really need a cheese refill."
Marinette could only let out a nervous chuckle before she let her head drop onto the table. She had already failed the night, it seemed.
"So, you got a thing for Adrien, huh," Nino stated.
"Is it that obvious?" Marinette had started to panic. "Oh my gosh, he's gonna think I'm a total freak. He might already think I'm a total freak. Does he think I'm a freak? Oh dear, he's never gonna talk to me again because he thinks I'm weird. What if-"
