"And do not be conformed to this world,

but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,

that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God"

(Romans 12:2 NKJV)

A society that is full of conformism recognizes that their relationship with God is not well, but they do not do anything regarding the situation. One of the greatest obstacles or temptations of the church nowadays is giving up and conforming to the ways of the world and the current flow that nowadays take place.

One of the many weapons that Satan uses against us is conformism. While conformism infiltrates in our lives, this same conformism opens ground so that other things can also enter into our lives. It is a lethal weapon against a Christian because it comes with many human thoughts and mindsets that are logical and it prevents for this individual to grow spiritually while this mindset and stronghold is there to block God's Spirit from moving in our lives.

Conformism is when one accepts a certain way that has been established, like costumes and cultures, opinions, authorities that have been established but are not from God and do not do the will of God. This is caused by the comfort or lack of interest that takes over their lives.

Conformism causes many Christians to always leave their goals or objectives half way done. The worst is that this conformism can affect us not only in the natural realm but also in the spiritual one. There are many believers that conform with the little experiences they have had with God and their spiritual growth decreases. They are stuck. Their faith is stuck, doesn't allow them for more.

Ephesians 5:14 NKJV

"Therefore He says: Awake, you who sleep,

Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light."

Many of us have suffered from a case of conformism and the results are that many times our prayers are not answered. Because God won't act in a person where there is no motivation to start something. He can pick us up from failure, but not from a place we don't want to let go and stayed stuck there. When one is tied up by conformism is like one becomes spiritually dead.

Ephesians 4:27 NKJV

"nor give place to the devil."

Conformism brings mediocrity into our lives.

How to know if conformism has taken a hold in our lives:

1. Prayer that is stuck/dry/no fire

2. No fresh experiences with God

3. No desire to progress

4. No desire to obtain freedom from spiritual bindings and chains

5. Stagnation in the spiritual growth

6. The feeling of conformism in the sight of sickness

7. Passivity in the sight of the devil's attacks against your life and family

8. A lack of interest and search for God's presence. Lacking the desire to know Him more

9. Discouragement

10. Routine

11. Coldness towards God's presence/Hardness/Indifference

12. Lack of Bible reading

Conformism can come as a form of attack from the enemy so that you and I can never reach the potential that God wants us to reach, that He intended for us to do, to have, which He saw in us in that moment of creation. A passive attitude towards the conquering and movement of the kingdom of God and battle against the enemy is not pleasant on God.

Matthew 11:12 NKJV

"And from the days of John the Baptist until now

the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force."

Conformism is like a virus; once it enters our bodies, our lives, it takes root and forms part of it and then spreads out. So how do you get out from this? From this cycle?

Romans 12:2 says that we should not conform to the ways of this world, to the currents flowing this century, through the transformation of our mind, thoughts; to know the good will of God that is pleasant and benevolent. If our understanding, our thoughts are renewed by God's word and power we would know His thoughts for our lives are good. Only His word can take us out from conformism. No weapon formed against you or me will prosper. Romans 12:11 says "not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord".

2 Timothy 1:6 NKJV

"Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God

which is in you through the laying on of my hands."

1 Thessalonians 3:10 NKJV

"Night and day praying exceedingly that

we may see your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith?"

David before the giant didn't conform to what the others said to him, to their thoughts, or to their fears. He was bold. The apostles were empowered by God's Spirit, they didn't conform to the obstacles and the oppression they faced when spreading The Gospel. Even Paul who was stoned many times and beaten, he never gave up and took the Gospel to places that nobody thought it could go but God only. Daniel decided not to conform and contaminate with the food of the king. They had to keep fighting the good battle just like us.

We need God to set a fire in our soul, His fire in us burning brightly and strong so we come out of conformism and stand up in God's path of justice and hope for us. However, God wants something from each one of us. Joshua 1:9 NKJV "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

God bless you everyone! Hope this helps you all.
